Ragtopjohnny
Hi all... I don't know what is going on, but I have to say, I'm disappointed in Tack Pack and Aersofot's F14x combo. I get up in the air, I arm weapons, push buttons, and can get NOTHING to fire. The only thing I accidentally figured out how to work is the flares, and that's it. Can someone please explain to me what I am doing wrong? I feel as though I waisted a lot of money, and don't feel like buying the Super bug if that's the only way to truly enjoy it. I also seemed to have lost my F14 Afterburner effects too. Hope someone can help out.... Thanks. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o176/ragtopjohnny/NewSig.jpg http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-greet013.gif Checkout my new Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Airplane-Porn/1505438883035386 HP Z820 Workstation Intel Xeon 3.30ghz 8 Core Processor 2TB Hard Drive 16 gig of Ram 1125 Power Supply and 2 Gig Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. billdebaze
Hey, First of all, you are sure to have purchased the VRS + tacpack the Aerosoft F-14? The VRS system is not included in the F-14. Then you have to set the firing button (trigger) in the Tackpack manager (preferences, mapping trigger). The tacpack is a wonderful soft. But it is actually quite complex, and its implementation in the add-ons is tricky. The most complete version is undoubtedly the Tacpack powered VRS Superbug, since it is the same shop ... I find his presence in the Aerosoft F-14 successful, it has the advantage of using only the functions A / A system, which simplifies learning. The most complicated with the VRS F-18E is the management of guided A/G armament (GPS, laser, Maverick, AM88 and Am84, etc ...). The F-14 is satisfied with a A / G standard with manual release Mk82, 83 or 84. The dropping is simple, intuitive. In terms of managing A / A, I can't answer all your questions but I can direct you to sites that will detail you the steps that you should follow. Above all, we must know that the road is long and constantly evolving, since 2 years I'm on the subject ... I still learn every day! About your trigger issue, please have a look to your F-14 manuals where all is well explained. Cause with or without using FSUIPC, it's not the same way. I mean the tacpack is not a plug and play system: you must go through hours of reading before using it correctly. The goal of the VRS Team was to come as close as possible to reality ... this is proof that they have succeeded! billdebaze
Step by step &First issue : the ' fire button ' . Don't forget Aerosoft F-14X is v1.0, it is clear that there are little bugs that will be resolved in future releases...but i have seen nothing about this trigger mapping. It seems to be ok for all. So have a look in your Tacpack Manager, preferences, trigger mapping with your used Hotas or Joystick connected. You should be have something like that : Tell me more after that check. Furthermore, I understand your disappointment but I agree with n85988. It is impossible to review all the topics on the forum in 2 days. And if you want to use the Tacpack correctly, you have to arm yourself with patience and read a minimum the manuals. Those from Aerosoft and VRS ( Wikipedia online ! Never seen better !) are the result of a fabulous job and 99% of the answers to your questions are inside.:) Regards, B. Ciao Viva & Have Fun ! But a comment like yours is un-called for, so I will not give you my input to help out. You didn't have to respond like that either. Just ignore and move on then if that's how you want it. So far I asked three different things on occasion and NO help here. Now you know why I was the way I was with this. And your comment was uncalled for too. I am tired of people being rude and ignoring me and won't stand for it any longer. Why should everyone else be considered different? Thanks Bill. I will have to consider maybe the F18. I have gotten things to work good in the F14 finally, but still, can't activate the Autopilot, even when it is close to being level, and to me, the plane sys I have bought the following: VRS Tac Pack Aeroosoft's F14. Are you saying I need the F18 as well? I was hoping not. But if I have to, I have to I guess. :/. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o176/ragtopjohnny/NewSig.jpg http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-greet013.gif Checkout my new Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Airplane-Porn/1505438883035386 HP Z820 Workstation Intel Xeon 3.30ghz 8 Core Processor 2TB Hard Drive 16 gig of Ram 1125 Power Supply and 2 Gig Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. Ragtopjohnny
Thanks Bill. I have the Tac Pack like you showed in the screen shot. I have my settings checked and the trigger buttons mapped. The odd thing is, last night, I have finally gotten a missile to fire, but only the Sidewinder variety. Nothing else launches, no weapons, flare, nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. :( Awesome video, though I still must be doing something wrong. I'll have to try again now. :) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o176/ragtopjohnny/NewSig.jpg http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-greet013.gif Checkout my new Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Airplane-Porn/1505438883035386 HP Z820 Workstation Intel Xeon 3.30ghz 8 Core Processor 2TB Hard Drive 16 gig of Ram 1125 Power Supply and 2 Gig Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. fxsttcb
I'm using the TPM keyboard Ctrl/Shift/V to fire. It took a while to figure out how to lock on to an AI. I used the Traffic Toolbox Map to get within 30 nm or so of an AI. I brought up the 2D Control Panel, set the range to 50, selected TWS Auto, set the HSD to 20deg/4bar, selected a Phoenix, flew in the general direction of the AI, and waited until the HSD showed the AI. I think my original problems were related to the fact that I wasn't using the target select function() on the 2D. I clicked " Woot! Whoosh, Boom! Scratch the AI.:cool: Thanks for the help Bill! :pilot: ...Don HAF 932 Adv, PC P&C 950w, ASUS R4E,i7-3820 5.0GHz(MCR320-XP 6 fans wet), GTX 970 FTW 16GB DDR3-2400, 128GB SAMSUNG 830(Win 7 Ult x64), 512GB SAMSUNG 840 Pro(FSX P3D FS9) WD 1TB Black(FS98, CFS2&3, ROF, etc.), WD 2TB Black-(Storage/Backup) Active Sky Next, Rex4 TD/Soft Clouds
Ragtopjohnny
Oh, okay, Thanks Don! I'll give it a try. I will be able to do FS a little while later this afternoon, so I'll report back then. Thanks for those who did let me know what's going on. :) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o176/ragtopjohnny/NewSig.jpg http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-greet013.gif Checkout my new Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Airplane-Porn/1505438883035386 HP Z820 Workstation Intel Xeon 3.30ghz 8 Core Processor 2TB Hard Drive 16 gig of Ram 1125 Power Supply and 2 Gig Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. billdebaze
If you can launch a Sidewinder, then your trigger mapping works. The sidewinder does not need to operate the radar, the missile has its own guidance system and monitoring the target with infrared. For a Sparrow, it's different. You have already to connect your radar, identify your target, lock and then follow it linearly by bringing you. You only have to follow the procedure described by Don, which is perfect. Around 10-15 nm, you should be in range & the words "shoot" must appear under "lock". It is only then that you have to squeeze the trigger. If the target is not locked or if the angle is too large, the Sparrow will not leave. To understand the system, I suggest you read this: http://forums.vrsimulations.com/support/index.php/AIM-7_Sparrow It is scheduled for Superbug, but the method is the same for the majority of US aircraft. Your autopilot issue is simple, you only have to set a NWS ( Nose Wheel Steering ) key ( "tailwheel lock" by default in FSX control settings ) and use it. Forget the FSX Autopilot, the system is quite different. Use NWS in ground of course, but in flight after autopilot, HDG & Alt on when you want to cruise in flight level. Then will the plane hold the selected altitude. In my opinion, you should have to train properly on the F-14 before buying the VRS F / 18E, which is much more complicated. Ciao Viva & Have Fun ! Ragtopjohnny
Thank you BILL! I appreciate all the input. I am going to have fun with some dog fighting hopefully tonight. Can you expand the Rio view over to another monitor? I might unplug mine from the other computer and have it go to my graphic card for monitor 2 if I can. Thanks! :) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o176/ragtopjohnny/NewSig.jpg http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-greet013.gif Checkout my new Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Airplane-Porn/1505438883035386 HP Z820 Workstation Intel Xeon 3.30ghz 8 Core Processor 2TB Hard Drive 16 gig of Ram 1125 Power Supply and 2 Gig Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. billdebaze
It's a nice idea. You can plug your second screen with your graphic card ( you must have of course 2 output ). NP. Ciao Viva & Have Fun ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
