mrzippy
Yes you did! And they thank you from the bottom of their hearts! ;) Is it part of the [lights] section in the aircraft.cfg or did you find another winner that has it in the model where it can't be touched? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
Allen Craig
Can't be touched GRRRRRRRRRR! But it is a bit different than most, I can turn off external lights and the panel lights work separately
ColR1948
I hate those lights, I wish the model makers would stop using them, why spoil a good model and use these?

ColR1948
I know some lights will turn off/on via a config edit but some are built in to the model I think. I had this a while ago with an aircraft, the model was good but those balloon lights as I call them spoilt it, turned out they were in the model somewhere, I looked in using Hexedit, I found a few things to do with lights but if you edit the wrong number you can have the model not showing at all. Another reason to backup before attempting anything like that lol.

PAULCRAIG
If the lights have been included as part of the model it will still need an effect for the light source, changing this effect for another suitable one is easy, if the aircraft comes with custom effects it is vital that the replacement is named the same as the original as the effect name will have been assigned to the nodel during the model building process. Allen Craig
Thanks for your info. I understand that, but it's not a named effect. I have 216 effect images, the majority of which are lights LOL :) I haven't yet worked up whatever its going to take to sift through those to remove the offending light Soon perhaps, but not yet

If you still have a copy of that aircraft download, it would be easy to track down the strobe effect. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! PAULCRAIG
Mr Zippy is correct, for example, I included custom strobe light effects for my PA-42 Piper Cheyenne 400LS model which I named "fx_strobe_pa-42" & if for some reason someone who downloaded this aircraft didn't like this strobe effect & prefered another they could just make a copy of their prefered strobe effect & rename it fx_strobe_pa-42. The reason why some modellers attach effects to their models are for two reasons, the position of the light effect can be placed exactly where they want it & if the model has wingflex animation the lights need to be attached so that they move with the wing flexing animation, also it's a lot quicker & easier than fiddling around with the effects section of the aircraft.cfg trying to get the lights positioned exactly where you want them. ColR1948
I understand what you are saying there Paul, it makes sense to attach them to the wing for flexing. I just wish they didn't use the balloon lights, I have a British Aerospace 748, a great model with lots of detail but again it has those horrible lights which in my opinion spoil it. I suppose having an alternative would mean making 2 models which is more work for the model maker and probably not feasible.
