gypsymoth
I've just installed FS2004 from the MS discs, & on a test flight from the new Hong Kong VHHH I was stunned to see about 20 parked default aircraft. I flew over them & was even more surprised to see some of them moving, & subsequently taking off. TerryW.
tiger1962
Yes there's a default Traffic.bgl in Scenery/World/scenery. It contains both Airline and GA flightplans, but only for airports and airfields which were operational up to 2003/4, and it doesn't include private airstrips. gypsymoth
Right.....thank you. Can it be opened so I can see where aircraft are flying to & from? TW
tgibson_new
You can use a utility like AI Flight Planner to open the file and examine it. Keep in mind that these are fantasy airlines flying random flights. Much more realistic aircraft and traffic is available from places like World of AI, etc. There are also several payware packages available for those that don't want all the work of installing WOAI one airline at a time. http://stuff4fs.com/AIFP/ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.com
tiger1962
There's a WorldOfAIDownloader.exe available which will download them all, or as many as you select, in one go. You can then batch install them with the WOAI Installer.exe ten at a time. Don't forget to disable the default Traffic.bgl by renaming it Traffic.bak. gypsymoth
Thank you both. While you're there - if you are !! I see VHHH is missing a lot of concrete. I see aircraft taxying over grass. I have Afcad & Ade & can replace the missing stuff. Do I save it (with all the aids- I think Ade has an option for that?) as a stand alone airport & add to addon scenery, as ususal............? tiger1962
You're only editing the AFD file, not the whole airport, so in ADE (don't use AFCAD for airports with ILS!) you just Save your edits, then Compile the AFD file. Copy the newly compiled AFD from the ADE folder to your VHHH/scenery folder and backup or delete your old one. Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." gypsymoth
The default is missing lots of concrete so it's that I thought of editing. I make my own airfields so au fait with compiling, etc but I was wondering if Ade kept default buildings & lights, aids, etc.................. tiger1962
My apologies, I thought it was a strange question for you to be asking! The answer is yes, ADE does keep all the default features, and you can easily add more with it too... be careful with that though, it gets addictive! Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." gypsymoth
I have Golden Wings 3 & 10 yrs ago made a local WW2 fighter station (now a water filled gravel pit with rare control tower) to take to local events so people could see what it might have looked like in 1943. One airfield led to another & 30 or so later I thought I'd get back to FS2004 & recapture landing at Kai Tak (FlyTampa) in a 747, etc, with lights & stuff. I was surprised to see VHHH with so much concrete missing ! I'll fire up Ade & see what can be done ;-) Cheers, TerryW
