rudder pedals sliding on carpet issue

Recommended Posts

Well the way I have mine secured is by using a 2x4 (about 30 inch long) and using DUCT TAPE have it 'taped' to the carpet. It does NOT move. Be sure to put tape length wise (both sides) and then cross wise at the ends of board and over the lenght wise tape. Removing it takes about 10 seconds. You don't hurt the carpet. And you only used about 25 cents worth of tape (15 cents?). If you measure, there might be a place to put two 2x2 in 2 different places under the paddle frame which would be even better. Also you could duct tape the paddles to the boards. THAT would really be a 'solid' mod (hehe). Use my head.

Depending on what kind of carpet you have, try to find some heavy-duty self stick velcro strips. Place the non-fuzzy "hook" strips on the bottom of your pedals. :pilot:

The heavy duty "hooks" should dig into the carpet enough to keep the pedals in one place. Otherwise, the wood always works. :)

if you don't want to ruin your carpet, a piece of wood long and wide enough to go from the pedals to the bottom of your chair. On one end of the sheet you secure the pedals, and on the other end you place the front legs of the chair. HD or lowes usually sells pre cut thin sheets. Of course, as some have suggested, if you have a wall, you can build a frame that sits between the pedals and the wall.

I have 2 TRC sets of rudder linked together. Each one weighs about 7 lbs. I used heavy velcro on them on a plywood base. I can apply maximum braking pressure and they don't slide around at all.

You can then secure that frame by using duct tape (hehe).

A bit late to this party, but here is an alternative solution which I use with my Saitek Pro petals. The chair I use is constructed such that I can wrap two luggage straps from it to around the base of my petals which holds them in place. This works well for me since I don't have a wall close by to brace with a chunk of plywood, and due to space limitation I have to break down my "simpit" when it's not in use.
