BryanButler
hi. can anyone give me an idea(s) on what I could do/build to stop my rudder pedals from sliding on the carpet? thanks
ColR1948
My first thought is to cut 2 pieces of wood and put them against the wall to the pedals then they won't slide any further.
mrzippy
How about some nice, long screws through the carpet into the sub-floor!;) Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
BryanButler
colR1948 - exactly what I was thinking. thanks! mrzippy- hahahaha!!! that was funny. thought about it at first but I think my landlord would have my head lol
napamule2
Well the way I have mine secured is by using a 2x4 (about 30 inch long) and using DUCT TAPE have it 'taped' to the carpet. It does NOT move. Be sure to put tape length wise (both sides) and then cross wise at the ends of board and over the lenght wise tape. Removing it takes about 10 seconds. You don't hurt the carpet. And you only used about 25 cents worth of tape (15 cents?). If you measure, there might be a place to put two 2x2 in 2 different places under the paddle frame which would be even better. Also you could duct tape the paddles to the boards. THAT would really be a 'solid' mod (hehe). Use my head. BobSeaman
Depending on what kind of carpet you have, try to find some heavy-duty self stick velcro strips. Place the non-fuzzy "hook" strips on the bottom of your pedals. :pilot: The heavy duty "hooks" should dig into the carpet enough to keep the pedals in one place. Otherwise, the wood always works. :)
napamule2
The would wood work. i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. tce
if you don't want to ruin your carpet, a piece of wood long and wide enough to go from the pedals to the bottom of your chair. On one end of the sheet you secure the pedals, and on the other end you place the front legs of the chair. HD or lowes usually sells pre cut thin sheets. Of course, as some have suggested, if you have a wall, you can build a frame that sits between the pedals and the wall.
Billd
I have 2 TRC sets of rudder linked together. Each one weighs about 7 lbs. I used heavy velcro on them on a plywood base. I can apply maximum braking pressure and they don't slide around at all.
bdf369
I picked up a heavy rubber door mat at the hardware store. It grips the floor well and the pedals don't slide on it because of the rough rubber surface. I didn't need to use any tape or nails.

alenkacz
I secured my Satiek pedals to a thin piece of plywood just deep enough to rest squarely on the base board, this prevents them from lateral or forward movements. No velco screws tape or carpet damage!

napamule2
You can then secure that frame by using duct tape (hehe). i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. TheFamilyMan
A bit late to this party, but here is an alternative solution which I use with my Saitek Pro petals. The chair I use is constructed such that I can wrap two luggage straps from it to around the base of my petals which holds them in place. This works well for me since I don't have a wall close by to brace with a chunk of plywood, and due to space limitation I have to break down my "simpit" when it's not in use. Rod O.
