mejjo1989
Hi everyone, I have been using FSX in Window mode for a little while now. I have decided to go back to using full screen but i'm seeing an awful lot of stutters being in full screen, I don't think any settings have changed since i was last using full screen. There is a chance something changed in Nvidia Inspector but i can't place what. Does anyone here know what might cause FSX to run poor in full screen and better in windowed mode? Thank you. kaashaas
FSX is known to perform best in windowed mode. There are some utils that will simply drag the window over the whole screen without the borders. Google 'FSX' and 'Borderless gaming' and Bob's your uncle. This will allow you to place windows on multiple monitors as well. Good luck! Grtz., Hans
CRJ_simpilot
I use full screen all the time, but recently I developed a white grass/flickering issue at FlightBeam's KDEN. I never had that before. Also, sometimes I see two black squares for the landing lights and then it goes back to normal. I recently did a chckdsk on the drive and it found a bitmap error (not to be confused with the image format). Now I haven't see this flickering and black boxes. Still using full screen. Lets hope it stays that way. I was going to downgrade my GPU driver because I suspected the driver. Like I said, never had this issue. Of course now I'm using a new driver since I just built this computer. I used sysprep to transfer my existing OS and all its content to the new machine from the old. Worked like a charm. OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk? An awesome weather website with oodles of Info. and options. Wile E. Coyote would be impressed.
kaashaas
I'm running full screen as well and remember having flashes as well a while ago. In fact it was textures needing longer to load. I removed the World of AI bgl's which solved it for me. Didn't need them anyway because I mostly fly online. Some suggested it was my GPU overloading, but last sunday there were over 20 planes moving around EHAM and still no flickering, so I doubt that was the problem. What does happen though is when a plan changes lights, these lights change to black squares first. Just for half a second maybe. You're right Mark, I have to correct myself: I'm referring to FSX Steam Edition, not FSX. That goes for the multi-monitor part of the subject. As far as frames per minutes are concerned; it is actually widely substantiated folklore that there is indeed a change in fps when fsx is windowed or not. It happens escpecially under Windows 7.
