RichardFS
I have scoured the manual, scoured all the forums and sub forums and websites and everything else and I can NOT get my stupid Mid Atlantic Air Museum DC-3 to start in FSX! I've tried everything. Just about every single forum says to limit the frame rates below 30 which my simulator DOESN'T EVEN DO, it doesn't have a frame rate lock, only a frame rate goal, and it's always been set at 20 FPS. I have edited the .cfg's and reinstalled the plane and saved a flight with another aircraft with engines running etc. etc. etc. I've only been able to start it ONE TIME. It won't auto start either. If I'm LUCKY the right engine will stay running but the left always shuts off. This is extremely frustrating as it's ruined several nights for me looking forward to flying it. WASTE of my money, time and effort. I should have stuck with Manfred Jahn's freeware.
jorgen.s.andersen
I gather this is a payware aircraft. Who made it, and don't they have some kind of support? Jorgen
blockwood
Try changing this line for [piston_engine] in the aircraft.cfg file. normalized_starter_torque=1.4 //0.
RichardFS
It's what they call a "Donationware" aircraft. All profits go to the Museum. Mid Atlantic Air Museum volunteers created it based off of their own real C-47. It looks fantastic but none of the switches in the VC work and obviously I can't get it to fly. RichardFS
The download comes with FSX patches included with it so all I have to do is follow the instructions included with them to install them (I know how to do that anyway).
RichardFS
I've seen multiple forum posts here and there suggesting the [piston_engine] line be changed but all of them had different figures. What EXACTLY does that do, though?
RichardFS
There is an FSX compatibility update available for the DC3 from the MAAM-Sim web site. However, the C–47 v3 from Manfred Jahn and Jan Visser is a far superior aircraft (I have both) and is being actively developed. Superior in terms of what? All I care about is how accurate the systems, VC and flight characteristics are. Graphics quality isn't important to me even though I had the American Airlines paint for the Jahn one and it was probably the best paint I've ever seen on any FS aircraft. zswobbie1
But MAAM has a DC3 on floats! Robin Cape Town, South Africa
RichardFS
But MAAM has a DC3 on floats! Yes! and Supposedly has a more realistic flight model
copperpen
Have you tried adjusting the normalized_starter_torque= I changed it to 0.55 in FS9 and can start using the cockpit controls.
napamule2
I have avoided the MAAM airplanes for years. I like a challenge just like any other guy. But if it's payware or donationware then THEY should fix it. Not me. Quote: 'Have you tried adjusting the normalized_starter_torque= I changed it to 0.55'. (That IS adequate - 1.4 would be excessive.) But, THAT would not be 'realistic'. So forget that? As would be the follow-up statement '..then use 'Ctrl+E' to start engines, which (again) is not 'realistic' so we are back to square one? You can't have everything, you know. Chuck B Napamule PS: It took me 6 minutes to type this post - as FltSimCom is spending more time loading adverts, video, cookies, etc where your typing text is (almost) ignored. copperpen
Now come on, where did I even say "use CTRL+E to start". As for realism, no flight simulator other than a proper training simulator would come close to being real. It is what it is, and you live with it. RichardFS
Again It won't even start with CTRL E.
napamule2
Now the question is: did you do: 'normalized_starter_torque=0.55'. Then try =1.00. But, there could be something else that is missing. Not sure if gauges are xml and if they are then that is what might need looking into. Just trying to help. Chuck B Napamule Edit: If I had the floats model ('more realistic flight model') I would trade the cfg and change relevant sections and also trade air file. I do that all the time. Time consuming but if you do it right you have what you want. MAAM don't mind if it's for you OWN use (no uploading anywhere to share). i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change.
