Abacus FD5 FA-18

I might be wrong, but if it isn't the scenery doing that, isn't the static_cg_height = 6 setting in the contact points section that does that?

I am sure Chuck will ring in eventually about that, but hey, it's worth a look. He's a lot smarter than I about contact points, along with many other things.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

It happens with all airports. I load the flight and this is what I get. I installed the addon about a week ago. the other planes don't do this, just the FA-18.

I will look at the cfg and see if I can figure out the contact points...ad

Im at a loss... if failed to fly completely, just crashes when its loaded. It did fly when I checked ignore crashes...hmmmm

Have you checked with who you bought it from? Maybe time to ask for your money back?

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

I will just use another FA-18 in its place...

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, tsht-tsht-tsht....

Sorry, I just had to.

Anyway, may I recommend the FSDT FSX BA F/A-18C v16.1? I can get you the link, if you want. Fantastic aircraft. Flies like a dream, great post-stall performance, the carrier landings are wonderful.

Very realistic HUD, the FCS is amazing, and the FDE can't be beat. I can't say enough good about this bird. And the v17.??? is coming soon. Better engine performance, etc. Amazing.

Oh, and while it's downloading and installing, have a nice cuppa. :D

With pleasure! HERE you go! Enjoy :D

I don't normally trust auto-installers, but in this case, it worked perfectly. When it runs, you will be offered a number of choices for which "loadout" you might desire. Air-to-Air, various different Air-to-Ground loads, a Training load, with no weapons, but with the pylons, and a centerline tank, Clean, etc etc. The weight and balance, and the drag indices (big word, huh??) are correct for each loadout. So the A-G has a lot more weight and drag than the Training, and so on.

The installer will install a Base folder, which the plane must have, and which has the main texture, panel, sound, and so on. All the others you choose will have their own folders, with the unique textures they use, and the aircraft.cfg for that loadout. Saves a lot of HD space that way.

Finally, the installer will install the needed .NET Redistributable file the plane needs for the FCS and HUD to function. It may take a little while, and it may seem to lock up during the install. It hasn't. Just let it go. Go get yourself a sammich, or cuppa, or both. Just wait. It may take 10-15 min, but it will eventually.

Now, all you have to do is go flying, and enjoy! Load up AICarriers, vLSO, some interesting weather, maybe Pitching Deck, and have fun! Beware: The AI LSO's in vLSO are some mean buggers. Hate my guts for some reason...

Remember, you should have 35 kts WOD for proper landing in the F/A-18, and the boats travel at 25kts. Also, you need to make sure the plane's gross weight is 33K or below. Play with the MFD's. There's a page that displays gross weight. Or hit SHFT+4, and SHFT+6. great info available. SHFT+8 is a ton more. Play. enjoy :D

Have fun, you'll never look back :D
