The deHavilland DHC-2 Beaver is currently anchored in a nearby lake North of KBMH Birmingham International Airport. I'm planning to fly to and land at Smithville Lake, MO north of Kansas City International Airport KMCI. Planning to arrive by Saturday and drive to the Kansas City Speedway by car. Planes will be tied up along beach next to Camp Branch Marina. See you there and fly safe. Gipper

Just to let you know. DAY ONE went as planned with scattered CU clouds ending in an un-eventful landing on the Mississippi River. DAY TWO was quit different. One problem after another including two program crashes mid flight. Weather was marginal VFR (MVFR) with low ceilings, 3mi visiblilty and heavy rain most of the 200nm trip. Had to start the flight over again after the first "crash" then I got smart and saved the flight after 30 min. on second flight and sure enough, another "crash" occurred 10 min, after the flight continued. Finally, after the third flight, and a night time water landing at an unfamiliar location on the Lake of the Ozarks, was a challenge for sure. DAY THREE weather was severe sunny and clear with no clouds in sight. Flight went according to plan with an uneventful landing on Lake Smithvile, MO about 11nm Northeast of KMCI Kansas City MO. Then it was on to the NASCAR races.

I wrote a detailed account of DAY TWO flight but its too long to post here. Do we have any other place that might be more suitable to post a longer story about Day Two? Happy Flying.
