kiri
Hi: Im very satisfied with FSX- Steam. Im having a smooth 30 FPS (fixed at 30) and everyting works great. Im afraid that incorporating ORBX global (and vectors) will turn my FPS down and killing "smoothness". Any comments or advice on the matter? Thanks... kiri. mrzippy
If your computer is powerful enough, it might not be that bad. If you are under 3.5 GHZ or so, it might cause difficulties if you don't make adjustments in your settings. Just be sure, if you decide on purchasing ORBX products, you read and understand their terms and conditions. There ain't no refunds. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! FTX Global Base will transform your sim and have no effect on performance, so that would be your safety shot. Vector, I understand, can have a significant impact on performance but it's also quite tunable. The effects are more subtle visually than Global Base, so perhaps think about why specifically you think you want Vector. MarkH

Go into the MSFS SCREEN SHOTS FORUM and look at some of the screenshots taken with FTX GLOBAL. In fact there is more than one thread asking about results on that specific program. I have posted several responses to that question myself as have others. I think they look much improved from default and don't really affect anything. Having said that, be aware even default scenery often slows down in densely populated scenery areas such as London, Heathrow, etc. Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow. wschneid
I have Global and Vector installed and am happy with them. I am thinking of adding OpenLC North America. My question is will I get more towns and roads showing, in particualy in areas where the scenery is normally default, like central Maine. Is the difference, if any, worh the price? Roads no. The variation in scenery is the greatest gain with OpenLC. It's a landclass product. Roads come from Vector.
