Panel and effects - Is there any relation?

Hello guys!

I'm trying to fit condensation effects (from FSFX Immersion - I have licensed product) on the wing of my Posky/PSS 777 merge. The problem is that when I'm using the airplane with its panel (PSS), the effects don't appear. When I remove the panel, the effects appears.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens? How can I correct this?

Thanks in advance.

There is probably one gauge in that panel that conflicts with the programming for the condensation effects. What triggers the effect - a dll ("gauge") or just edits in the cfg? If the former try disabling gauges on the panel one at a time and see if the effects appear, then replace that gauge with a similar one (though if that gauge interacts with others this may not be a viable solution, but it wont hurt to try). If the latter it's possible a switch or light function is involved and the panel's use of that function overrides the effect's use (for example the effect could be tied to a seldom used light or door activator, but your panel also uses that).

Hi jgf and thanks for your comments.

The effects are in lights secction and smokesystem. The condensation effects are in smokesystem.

Once, I've tried to disable the FSWXR2100.gau but there were a crash of the FS9. I think that is it but I'm not sure about it.

Other time I've replaced the PSS panel for default 777 panel and the effects works.

I'll try check the options about the switches. Let's see what will happens.

These types of smokeeffects are controlled by an effects controller gauge.

Such a gauge is invisible, but listed in a panel.cfg file as all others.

To create an afterrburner on a plane that didn't really have one I created a smoke controller gauge, which worked like this:

If engine on and throttle setting greater then 60%, switch on smoke.0,

if engine one and also throttle greater then 70%, switch on effect smoke.0 and smoke.1

if engine one and also throttle greater then 80%, switch on effect smoke.0 and smoke.1 and smoke.2

if engine one and also throttle greater then 90%, switch on effect smoke.0 and smoke.1 and smoke.2 and smoke.3

All done in such a way that if the throttle dropped below a value again, that hightst effect would be switched off again. (needs to be actively switched off)

When I finally had finished writing the gauge came testing.

To my surprise, it didn't really work.

60%, 70% etc didn't happen.

I found out after a lot of checking that this jet I was testing with already had an effects controller gauge in it. This was also designed to control smoke.0 to smoke.3, but this gauge switched them all off, all the time.

It was an afterburner gauge as well, but didn't work because of a programming error.

My gauge tried to switch them on ok, but they then were direcgtly switched off again by the gauge from the original.

I removed the original gauge. After that my gauge worked fine. Switching the effects on and off as needed, and showing more and more flame as power was increased.

It sounds like your problem panel also has such a problematic gauge.

Were there smoke-effects there in the panel originally, and did you then replace them with the ones form your Addon smokes?

If so, have a good look at which effects those smokes used to call up. THat would give you a clue as to what gauge to look for.

I don't know this plane, but I could imagine that it has for example effects showing smoke when the engine is on fire.

Their effects controller would keep these smokes off unless the engine is on fire.

(Just as an example)

Looking at the original plane's smokes, and the location they appear, can helpp you determine what they were for.

(To determine their position, position a light with the same coordinates in the lights section.)

I don't think it's likely a light switch, but could be I suppose. To test that quicly, just park and switch all lights on.

If that makes the smoke turn on... Bingo.

Other thought. You mentioned smoke. You did nopt mention installing a gauge for them.

Does this mean these smoks do not come on automatically, but that you have them on all the time by pressing the "I" key.

If so, just look for a gauge that switches smokes off actively.

Maybe try pressing I while looking at the wings, and see if your drops appear for just an instant, then get switched off again.

If you are supposed installing a gauge to control the droplet effect, make sure you have that in both panels.

(And still make sure that there's no conflicting gauge the same way. By checking the original smokes and what they were for.)
