Can I run the PMDG Boeing 737 NGX?

Recommended Posts

Remember, 3.7ghz sounds great. Until you realise this is an AMD processor. And that AMD ghz do not compare directly to Intel ghz. 3.7 AMD is much lower then 3.7ghz Intel.

I Googled search term:

AMD Athlon X4 860K equal to Intel

and got:

Quote:

"It's hard to compare because it is a low end quad core CPU. Most often it's compared to the Intel Pentium G3258. "

Found that as one of the answers here:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2968752/amd-athlon-860k-equal-intel-cpus.html

Based on that I think running the PMDG 737 will work, but that it won't run all that smoothy.

I also wondered what the RAM type was. DDR2, would really be a problem. But as the Athlon X4 is an FM2+ processor socket type, it will be at least using DDR3

-----------

Wat that means for running the PMDG smoothly is something that should be answered by someone with more experience with the PMDG. But from what I heard people say, the pc would need to be a bit more powerful to really enjoy that plane.

If you had to give a rough estimate of the frame rate, what would it be? I'm not that picky.

Fps depends on so many variables in a pc that a number is impossible to give. On top of that, it also depends on your fsx settings of course.

Oh, it also depends on how much is around you. Default airports and buildings or complex addons/ amount of traffic parked and taxiing nearby.

At a wild guess I expect in flight at altitude it is just about flyable. During approach, landing, and taxi, I expect stuttuering and fps dropping below 10 at times. Again, just a wild guess.

New cpu-different cpu socket-different mainboards-very different mainboard chipset (z170 I think, but would have to look that up just like you)--different ram DDR4 type-different speed pci express ports (generation 3.0) for videocard, with higher speed.

All very different as you see.

Take your time picking the parts that are right for you. It took me a few months to pick together my pc.
