Starting flights with engines running

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased and loaded a very instructive package from Perfect Flight (Ultimate King Air 350). Part of that package was to have the user start the aircraft from its cold and dark state.

This was fine, but now that I am back to my free flights I am over starting up cold and dark (been there, done that). I would rather go back to starting flights with the engines already up and running.

The problem is that now all my aircraft -- not just the Beechcraft King Air -- always start cold and dark.

Could someone please tell me how to restore the situation that it had been. I recall that an option existed to have flights start with the engines running. Now that I am looking for that option, I cannot seem to find it.

Thank you.

Stanley,

I think all you have to do is pick an aircraft, start it, move it to an active runway and THEN

save that flight. End the flight, close and restart FSX and see what happens. I believe FSX will remember those settings for any aircraft at any airport. Let us know if that works. Good luck.

Very easy. Load your default aircraft at your airport of choice. Start the engines. Let them settle out to idle rpm and then save the aircraft as your default flight. Close FSX. When you reload FSX, select the aircraft you wish to fly with, execute FSX and the aircraft you have just selected will load with the engines running. Keep in mind that when you select an aircraft as your default aircraft, all existing settings such as autopilot, lights, etc., will be saved as well in the default aircraft, so whatever those settings you have selected, will appear in the new aircraft you have just selected.

Even easier......go into your FSX.cfg and look for the line Situation=(it will have a description). Make it just

Situation= and save that. Start FSX and all aircraft and flights will begin with engines running.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Hi Mr Zippy and everyone else,

OK. I just edited the fsx.cfg file -- which makes me nervous, but I did it.

So far, so good. I have not yet done thorough testing, so I will keep a lookout.

Thank you.
