gordie3640
Is anyone using the Object Placement tools on a Windows 10 platform? I can't get the "tools" menu to show.
OleGreyGhost
Gordie, Did you install the SDK in this order: sdk.msi from fsx disk1 and run as admin Acceleration disk fsx_sdk_sp1a.exe from accel disk sdk.msi from accel disk to make it work you have to add the following to the dll.xml using notepad located in default location and is a hidden file so you will have to check show hidden files C:\Users\pcname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX Object Placement Tool False False C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\Object_Placement.dll Traffic Toolbox False False C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll Visual Effects Tool False False C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll If you have done it right, the tools will appear in the menu bar in cockpit. You might have to alter the paths if you have installed to a different location. When using the placement tool use windowed mode alt+enter and when you have finished alt+enter back to full screen mode. I just installed FSX into Win 10 on a new build after a 10 year hiatus. The old install is still running on my Win XP Pro P4 build. Credit for the instructions goes to Dave T. @simviation.com OGG...
gordie3640
As best as I can, being a 77 year old computer USER, not developer, I did all those with theexception of the "acceleration disk" which I have never had."
OleGreyGhost
The Acceleration disk was a separate purchase from FSX &/or FSX Deluxe Edition. You can find it on Amazon for approximately $20. Just type in FSX Acceleration
