martinstebbing
I've spent some time trying to fix this.. so far to no avail. I've tried various detail1.bmp files (mipped and unmipped) and a number of ground bmp files but clearly haven't found the right ones... When I approach a snowy mountain, it looks great, but as I fly over the textures change to sharp, grainy and pink/purple. (I don't think this is an algae issue!). I don't think that the screenshot actually has snow - it's just the grass in winter. I'll keep hunting for the right textures; I've tried various winter grass textures, as I say, but will keep trying. If anyone knows exactly the files I need to change, that might save me some time! Thanks!

martinstebbing
Nice, thanks - but those files are mine, uploaded over 10 years ago now (!!!) - haha. I have tried changing the colour but there's no associated change in the sim. I even removed those bmp files completely, but the same pink ground is there, so I am not 'photoshopping' the correct files - it is winter ground textures, not snow here that are the problem. I think the detail1.bmp file is also implicated, as well as whether the file is mipped or not, but I have tried several different detail1.bmp files without getting rid of this pink tinge either. tiger1962
My apologies Martin, just kidding! I have the same issue but the actual textures are hard to find - I've found a file in my Textures folder named grasss_wi.bmp, which has the same pink colouration as your screenshot. I carefully reduced the red channel in Photoshop and... no difference! It must be one of those grass textures, the search continues... Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." martinstebbing
Oh, I assumed you just hadn't noticed my name on them. Sorry if I missed your joke!.. Yes, I just saw grasss_wi.bmp, but I removed all the grass files from the fs9/texture folder and the pink ground is still there. I know that the file detail1.bmp causes pink snow if the mips etc. aren't correct (and other problems I posted about on AVSIM, when I used to frequent that site), but it doesn't seem to be the cause of the pink winter grass textures... I think the files must be in FS9/scenery/world/texture, but I get CTDs if I remove bitmaps from there, so FS9 is obviously using them. I have so many files in that folder now (almost 55,000) that finding the right one is going to be a nightmare. If you have any luck, please do let me know (and I will do the same of course). :)
