REDDAIR Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Hello, OK, I say FSX oddities but no doubt some of this might be PC related, but I have no clue. Recently added a new graphics card, a GEForce GTX1060 3GB. The action improved when I went to Nvidia's Control Panel and changed the processor to the graphics card under the Configure Surround tab. With the improvements, there are nagging sideshows. Did try three monitors and find when done, the 3rd monitor will cause a weakening of overall appearance. The airport Jetways disappear--things like that. So I reverted to 2 monitors for now. Oddly, the 2nd monitor does not show the aircraft parked at the gate--just its shadow and some parts. Notice 2 AI 747s are grayed out!! I have an I-5 Intel Processor. Running Win 10 and 8 GB RAM. So I assumed there is certainly enough here to make the show run? On a different subject, downloaded a Posky KLM 747. Nice. Only problem is the aircraft starts up overstressed. So I mark off the "Ignore crashes" and such and the AC is fine. There is some kind of thump and the altimeter retreats from 600 feet, so I assume it hits the ground in a crash right out of the startup. Any clues on how to change the parameters? It appears others also have this problem in this case. Redd
mrzippy Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Can't speak on the video problem, but with the POSKY 747 you might look in the aircraft.cfg and see if there is an alternate set of contact points. If so, give them a try. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

There are many definitions in the cfg file, but the most obvious to me was this: pic. From there, I compared this list to one of a stock FSX 747, but of course there is no similarity. Likely the ac are slightly different in size, and whatever. My question is---am I in the right place? Going from there, without specifics, there is little I could do without ruining the aircraft by tampering with the numbers! Redd
jorgen.s.andersen Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 The very first thing you do after changing a video card is to check that its drivers are up to date. Did you do that? Normally GeForce Experience will run automatically, but just to make sure.... Jorgen
mrzippy Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 You were in the right place but what I was looking for were 2 sets of what you showed. I guess this POSKY aircraft did not have an alternate set of [contact points]. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

When I first installed the card, the CD program to install the drivers would not run the program. So, I removed the old driver (Big mistake by the way). When turned back on, the screen is black. So Windows did reinstall a driver I guess. For a brief time I pondered "What have I done?!" Thereafter, Nvidia installed a "Universal driver" (It was called this). Now I get this screen if I try the CD:
jorgen.s.andersen Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I remember having this issue before, when trying to install GeForce Experience on 2 computers with Windows 10. Take a look at this thread: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-windows-10-nvidia-installer-failed-issue/ Jorgen
jorgen.s.andersen Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I must say I have never had any issues with GeForce Experience after the initial install..... Jorgen
REDDAIR Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Still trying to digest the information provided before digressing into ambiguous areas of multiple issues to investigate (Lots of big words here to help me through this mess). I should be flying not sinking. Add to this a problem I had seen some years ago. Vertical red dots (Like neon lights glittering) started showing up on the black areas of one monitor. Turns out to be the monitor cable. Spent an hour moving cables around and performance went up and the UFO lights disappeared. Seems like this was the problem last time I dealt with it and not the connections themselves, but rather the cable type. DVI just does a better job instead of HDMI. Still checking on the graphics card but now seems good. The Mrs. has problems with her Canon Printer and I have to work on it. I will miss a few flights today. Redd
