FSX and DirectX 10

Truthfully I am very new to FSX, and as I dig more and more I see a lot of reference to FSX with DX10. It appears more that DX10 with FSX is for performance more than it is for graphical enhancement, so I'm very curious...

Is the hassle of using DX10 with FSX worth it?

As Jorgen said, FSX DX10 mode is a preview. I was called that since they wanted to make the game be able to run on DX10 but they were forced to release it before any of the DX10 features could be polished and properly tested. Steve's DX10 Fixer fixes a lot of the issues and makes DX10 in FSX far more usable but its still not perfect and will probably never be.

For my machine, DX9 gives me a much more stable performance than with DX10. Other people see the opposite. If you are really interested in using newer DirectX versions, take it look at Prepar3d as it is coded to run on DX11.

PC Specs: MSI GE60 (laptop, useful for school)/ Intel I7-4710HQ @ 2.5GHz/ 8GB RAM/ 1TB HDD/ 128GB SSD/ nVidia GTX 850M/ CH Eclipse Yoke/ CH Pro Pedals/ TrackIR 5 Scenery That I Use: ORBX FTX Global, Vector, OpenLC NA, Trees HD, FreemeshX, REX Texture Direct w/ SC.

Thanks for the replies. I think for now I will stick to dx9, as I've got no issues, but it's also a very new install. Maybe I'll find a need to jump to dx10 at some point.

Prepar3d is too pricy for my wallet and personal entertainment use violates their EULA.
