Johnny Boy the Pilot
Just got FSX Steam and would like to know where to put it on the PC. Do I put it in Program Files (x86)? Or does Steam automatically choose a location to install FSX Steam?

Johnny Boy the Pilot
Nevermind I successfully installed my FSX Steam without issues. :D
PhantomTweak
From what I understand, if you allowed it to place the Steam folders, including the FSX folder, in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(X86) it will give you problems if/when you start editing things, putting in add-ons, and that sort of thing. By the same token, I've seen posts from people that have it in one of those folders without a single problem for years. Take it for what it's worth... longbreak754
As Pat has said, some people get permission related problems when they install into the default Program Files (x86) location. Steam products, as with any other products, can be installed wherever you want to. I have all of my steam stuff on a dedicated partition on a second drive under a top level folder called E:\Steam. For future reference, if you are getting permission related problems related to its current location you have several options available.......... 1. Turn down/disable User Account Control (UAC) settings- this is the main culprit that causes problems. However, note that turning down/off UAC does/can have some security related implications that need to be considered - google UAC to get a full understanding of what it does. 2. Run FSX-SE with Admin rights. To set it up permanently locate the FSX .exe file located in the FSX root directory, right click on it and select Properties from menu list. On the Properties pane, click on the Compatibility tab and then place a tick in the box next the 'Run this program as an Administrator' statement and then click Apply Another option is to re-install outside of the default Programs Files (x86) location. As you have the Steam version you can easily 'move' the steam install without having to re-download it - see the following web link for info http://www.howtogeek.com/269515/how-to-move-a-steam-game-to-another-drive-without-re-downloading-it/ Regards Brian
Johnny Boy the Pilot
I had Steam install FSX in the default steamapps/commons/FSX locations and I'm having NO permission problems at all. :) I have heard of the permission issues with FSX in the program folders but it seems like Windows 8 users are only getting that issue. I'm using Windows 7 and I don't have that problem at all.
