Clam Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I am flying with an Logitech extreme 3D pro, and looking for a cheap yoke. Any suggestions? Signed Clam
VAL747 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Been looking at yokes all sorts of quality and prices ..you aint going to get much cheaper then the Saitek followed by CH product. Sent from my SM-T815Y using Tapatalk
opcartmell Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I have been using the CH Eclipse for several years. I'm not sure I get very good vertical control since I have trouble maintaining stable flight on more complex planes. I like that you can program the switches to each do two functions which gives you a lot of flexibility. I have no experience with the Saitek and hope someone who has experience with both will reply. dogdish Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Well you did ask for the cheapest and I think that belongs to the CH Flight Sim Yoke USB. Search around and I think you can probably find it for around $100.~$125. Been using one for years with no issues. I use payware FSUIPC4 in place of the CH software for configuring to different aircraft though. ryapad Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I only spent $125 for my yoke and pedals. CH products is going to be the least expensive. The least expensive CH yoke is going to be the "CH Products Flight Sim Yoke." The way you get a good deal is just to check eBay listing often. Eventually, someone will come along selling their yoke for a lot less than everyone else, and you can buy it. Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet engines. Rupert Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I'll also point out another issue not really addressed. I also fly joystick with a Logitech 3D Pro when flying aircraft that RW use a joystick. Flying with your 3D joystick you already have rudder control by twisting the stick as well as power setting control with the sliding power lever on the joystick base. However if you're going to correctly fly with a yoke you will need a set of rudder pedals to replace the joystick twisted rudder control. And you'll also need a throttle panel or at least lever to replace the power slide lever on the joystick. I've found the best deal is to buy a yoke, throttle panel, & rudder pedal set all at once. I'm using all Saitek stuff which I've had for years with no issues. Though some don't like the feel of a Saitek yoke, it suits me fine. What brand of control hardware you buy is your choice but since you currently have and use all three of these functions in your joystick. You'll need to replace all three when using a yoke. One other issue to be aware of. If you start using several USB controls at the same time, you probably need to buy a powered USB hub to plug all your USB devices into. This will power your devices without making the voltage sag on your motherboard. Depending on your motherboard, too many non-powered USB functions at one time can cause a bunch of issues. Those issues include random failures killing the flight. And most importantly sagging voltage which causes excess heat on your motherboard and various devices connected to it. Excess heat often means device failures!!:eek: I always recommend people using many USB devices at the same time spend the $20 or so for a powered USB adapter. It's much cheaper than replacing fried hardware inside your computer!! ;) Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
dogdish Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Mr Rupert make some excellent points. ALL aircraft have rudder pedals. However if your tight for cash just leave Auto Rudder checked untill you can get some pedals. The CH Products Yoke has a built on Throttle/Prop/Mixture so your all set if you fly single engine aircraft. You can also assign the same control levers as Spoiler/Throttle (ALL ENGINE)/Flaps for jetliners. There are also two red index finger buttons on the yoke which are great for assigning as Left and Right Brakes to assist with taxiing. Rupert Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Good Idea dogdish! I just went and looked at that CH yoke and it seems good value for the money. Lots of buttons, levers, and options for a starter setup! Well Said!:cool: Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
