Maddison
With my 1st post I enquired if my abnormally long loading times were normal since in years gone by I had FS9 up and flying in 2-3 minutes. So I did a new install of FSX , did a 1st load to test, Terrain and auto generated scenery loaded in about 3 minutes and I was away with a test flight. Then installed the Acceleration disk and back to the same old junk. Takes between 15-20 minutes to load, sticks at about 30% of Terrain screen and crawls after that. Everything runs normally after that. Is there some sort of repair tool for Acceleration,?? I can't uninstall it since it is attached to FSX in the Uninstall screen Thanks
johnost
There must be some other problem. I have the same installation with Acceleration installed from a separate CD. dogdish
Hate to say this as much as you probably don't want to hear it. But you mentioned you deleted aircraft and other items from the default FSX setup. You may have deleted items that are functionally necessary and the root of your issues. If I were you, I would uninstall everything and start over. This time don't delete anything. I like to tweak things also, but get it all up and running first. Bite the bullet and get on with your life!;) And, as anyone who had their software at work "updated" can tell you. Newer often isn't better!! As soon as you do a complete reinstall and see it works. Stop and make a complete backup of everything before you change, delete, or add anything including scenery and aircraft!! Then give that backup a very distinct label so you won't confuse it with what you're "tweaking" and avoid ever changing a thing on it!!! If you do that, the next time an "improvement" goes bad, you will at least have a way to return to "works" without having to delete and reload everything again!!!!:cool: Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow. jandjfrench
Hi Madd, Sounds like FSX is competing for resources. It's possible to uninstall Acceleration; you'll be left with FSX. Make sure nothing is running in the background (CPU at about 0 or 1% before starting FSX). If okay to this point turn all settings full left and see which is causing the problem when turned up. This will be a good starting point in identifying the problem. Jim F.

Load to default flight with trike on runway Quit Defrag Unless you have an SSD there is NO getting around this procedure, which is why it has been the recommended method for ten years. As is NOT deleting default anything. For any further advice, supply full system specs.
jorgen.s.andersen
That should be the installation procedure for everyone. I would go a little further and add a "Reboot" after each "Quit". Jorgen
MrUnSavory
There is no reason to do reboots. FSX adds 1 thing to the registry and that is it's path. The need for rebooting went away with windows 98 and XP. Install FSX, run it so you can register it. Install acceleration, defrag and fly!!! I can do a total reinstall of all my flightsims and addons without a reboot and it works fine. Quit telling people to reboot!! If a program needs a reboot it will let you know otherwise you are wasting your time and other people's time suggesting this.

Restored a system image BEFORE I installed FSX, checked all references to FSX was missing, nothing in registry So did a fresh install into C:\FS10 this time I touched and deleted NOTHING. had settings as before to max except for autogen which was at very dense clicked run, it flew through loading terrain and auto generated scenery in less than a minute (virgin install no additions) Was sitting on the runway and ready to go in 2 mnutes, did 1st test flight, fps set at 32, I was averaging 25-30 fps so resources isn't a problem. Since everything worked fine I exited in preparation to install Acceleration. Truth to tell I don't really need it, have no interest in missions, F18 etc BUT other programs won't run without it so must have it. So installed Acceleration.... crap .. same old thing at about 30% of loading terrain big slow down, as before about 15 minutes later I was on the runway and ready to go. Once it loads everything works fine, I've done over 50 flights, no crashes, freezes etc.. works great. One other thing I noticed it somehow affected the key assignments in VIEWS only. Every other assignment works, Flaps, Com, Nav etc except I can't change the viewpoint UP/DOWN back forward etc. Before I installed acceleration I tried them all out and it worked perfectly, pressing Shift/Enter lifted my viewpoint up and so forth. After acceleration, no response. So there you have it, minor matter in the greater scheme of life, I can click run, go cook dinner, have a coffee and return after 20 minutes and things are ready to go. Perfect after that One other thing thats a minor irritant ... I cant get ATC to say the airline name (it's supposed to be as real as it gets) If any of you have seen my other topic about editvoice pack and have suggestions I would be grateful. Can't blame acceleration for that one, Installed editvoicepack prior to that and it still refused to say Frontier , Speed Bird or any other call sign listed in the huge new aircraft list that appeared in the FSX folder I ran several flight after EVP and it still loaded within a minute. Bottom line, I can run FSX after it loads, installed REX overdrive, NICE , FsPassngers works great and I am about to install ORBX global Thank you
