old_wombat
I have a number of static aircraft that have been created as BGLs from MDL files from flyable aircraft. The flyable aircraft all have _L.bmp files, and in Night mode in both FS and MCX at night time show up correctly night lit. But the static models made from these are inconsistent. Some open the _L.bmp files, and are therefore correctly night lit. But some do not even try to open "their" _L files, even thought they were all made from MDL files that did, and therefore, obviously, have no night lighting. So, what am I doing wrong in MCX? I am fully aware that this is an FS forum not an MCX one, but I ask this question because there is clearly a very helpful MCX expertise here. Steve from Murwilllumbah. tgibson_new
Did you add the night texture to that slot in the MCX material (Material Editor)? Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.com
old_wombat
Once again, Tom, you have pointed me in the right direction. I had not thought to look at that. I have now remade one test model, doing that, and it now has night textures. So thank you for that. But please pardon me if I voice some further frustration. A few models filled that slot in as part of the initial import, but most of them did not. And there does not appear to be any reason for one to do so, and another not to do so. That is the kind of inconsistency that frustrates the [expletive] out of me. Steve from Murwilllumbah.
tgibson_new
Glad to help. Some models are designed to use night textures, the others probably not. MCX just reports what's already in the model when you import them, I assume?
