dougfaa
Hello everyone. My computer crashed so I bought a new one. Have older Flight Sim 2004 and Flight Sim X. When I try to load them they wont open in the new computer. Is it because the programs are old. If so, what new program can I purchase so I can keep flight simming? Thanks for the information. PhantomTweak
FSX Steam is very inexpensive right now. I think $9.99, which is a pretty good bargain. As to why your older versions don't install, I have no clue. Do you load them from the disks, or just copy them to the new disk? Even putting the old HD into the new comp won't work. You have to reload them, start to finish. I know FS9 (FS2004 if you prefer) has 4 disks, and you will need to start from the beginning, as though you just bought a new goody for your computer, and load through all 4, as it calls for them. Now, there IS a trick you can do, that I've done a couple times, where I make a back-up copy of my FS9, or FSX, as it is just before I uninstall/ireinstall the "new" one. That way I can put in gauges, add-on scenery and aircraft, effects, etc etc., that I've collect over the years, just by copying them into my new sim install. I just take care not to over-write the default stuff in the sim. I'd hate to have to start over :) Does that help? longbreak754
............ When I try to load them they wont open in the new computer........... Can you give a more detailed description of what you mean by this statement? Does it mean that the programs won't install or that they install OK but don't run? If they installed OK, what location are they installed to? - i.e. the suggested default location recommend by the installer or outside in a location chosen by you. Also give details of the OS version you have. Providing this info will help us to provide a resolution to the two issues - the resolution path for each version of the sim will probably be different.
