Want to install FSX but computer has no disk drive

Recommended Posts

There is a way of copying files to Usb and installing from that. You will need to combine files from disk 1 and 2 somehow. I forgot. But there are threads with instructions.

Another option is to buy an external dvd drive that attaches through regular Usb. Handy bit of kit that. Available from about $25.

Buy the USB 3.0 version if your computer is very new. It will still be backwards compatible for USB 2.0 in case your computer is 4 yrs or more old. Just my 2 cents. You might get a good used one on EBay. But for the money might as well buy a new one at Amazon, WalMart, Best Buy, or other brick-n-mortar store. You need the warranty in case it don't work. And it should be plug-n-play. Windows will set up drivers for it automatically. You don't leave it plugged in. No need as every time you plug it in Windows will install the drivers for you. Then before you disconnect you do 'Safely Remove xxxx drive' for 'proper' or best use.

+1!! And you'll probably find a ton of other things to do with that disc drive!!That first off includes backing up all your work, your pictures, your music etc. on blank DVD discs you can buy so cheap you won't believe it! Don't back up to "the cloud!! You don't need "the cloud!" You shouldn't want "the cloud!" You need good home based and privately made personal DVDS as backups instead!

The internet, computer builders, hackers, and yes even the USSR, and the gaming world today all want us to always be live on "the cloud" all the time where they can monitor our every move and charge us for our every move!! Rather than allowing us doing things as we choose!

No I don't wear a tin hat. But I am aware of the world wide long term plans to reduce our freedom of operating our computers without continuing to pay fees to them on a hugely regular basis.

And yes, considering the obvious Soviet interests including our votes, our lives, and habits as well as the liberal "do-gooders" intrusions in every country around the world, a lot more privacy should be a huge priority for us all!! ;)

BUY AND USE DISCS!! THE CLOUD IS NOT YOU FRIEND!!

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

Why not just add an internal DVD drive? Almost any case will have a space for one. It's cheap, easy to do, and foolproof..........Doug

Maybe you missed it, but the USSR disappeared in '91, no longer exists. And just maybe it's tech companies and content creators that are abandoning disc media, to save costs and boost profits. Blame businesses, you know, those free enterprise for-profit guys, not the commies. It's about the money, not the Soviets ...

External DVD-CD burners can be had for around $20 if you track online sales. Worth every penny, too. :p
