ntai Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Hi all, I have installed some free ware airport add ons from the scenery library, but can't seem to keep them active. I have KLAX, MMGL, Milan Malpensa etc, but when i go to the the airports, they have reverted back to default, and i have to keep going back to the scenery manager in FSX and install them again. Any idea why they keep disappearing?
mrzippy Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Are they kept near the top of the library list and do they still have check marks? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
ntai Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 Hi, thanks for the reply. They are in the 'scenery' folder of 'Add On Scenery.
jandjfrench Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi nt, Just to be clear here: At the very least you've added a .bgl file to the "Scenery" folder of the "Addon Scenery" folder. Now when you say disappear is the .bgl no longer present or is the check mark missing in the Scenery Library? I'm not clear on what you mean when you say "install them again".
ntai Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks Jand. Yes BGL files in Scenery folder of Addon Scenery are still present. The Add on scenery is checked, but when going to the airport, it has gone back to default(sometimes) What i do is go to Add on scenery, click it, click ok, and it rebuilds again. If i do this with default airport displaying, it displays add on scenery with airoplane's noses sticking out of terminals etc.
jandjfrench Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi again Nt, I'm at a loss. Usually if any change is made to any scenery file the database is rebuilt whenever FSX is started; as well as when any change to the scenery library is made within FSX. I don't know where the current database is kept. Hopefully, somebody will come up with something to check. If anything occurs to me I'll post. Jim F.
jandjfrench Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi again, I'll add a bit more in case someone finds it useful. It looks as though the scenery data is maintained in both "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX, and "C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\FSX". It seems likely that one of the databases is updated while FSX is running and the other when FSX is closed. And ntai. are you exiting FSX is some unusual fashion?
ntai Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 BINGO! Yes, i have several add ons that i set up with the task bar at the bottom of the screen, such as PFE3, and Airbus X extended connect. When i exit, i set that scenario up again, and then click the x so that when i return, ALT and ENTER sets up that same screen configuration.
