eddywinch82
Hi there, I was reading on the Internet last night. That with the ADE Program, you can select for an Airport, with 2 Runways i.e. a loaded AFCAD File. You can have AI Aircraft Landing on one Runway and taking off from another. Is that correct ? Because that is what I would like to do in my FS2004, for Manchester Airport (Justflight Payware Addon ie. from the British Airports Series), and maybe others later. As AI Aircraft by default land on both runways and takeoff from both. How do you select that in ADE ? Also which versions of ADE allow you to do that ? Are there any places on the internet, other than on the Mediafire Download website, where you can download this program i.e. the later versions ? And if so where ? As you have to Register and possibly pay to download from the Mediafire Website. Any info and help would be appreciated. Eddie
longbreak754
Hi Eddie, Yes you can add crosswind runways using ADE - see page 157 of the manual. To get the latest ADE version and the manual see http://www.scruffyduck.org/airport-design-editor/4584106799. This is the info page. hover your mouse over the Airport Design Editor entry on the menu list located above the info text and select downloads. Two versions are available - a freeware base product and a payware Pro License for the base product - the differences are described on the download page. However, a word of caution regarding the product you wish to change. You may be infringing copyright by making changes so check out the EULA beforehand. eddywinch82
Hi Brian (longbreak754), Many thanks for the info, I have tried the link you have given me, to the ADE 1.70 Program . However when I try it, it asks me for a Username and Password to Download the Program Zip File. Is it no longer Freeware ? I then set up a monthly subscription at $5.00 with MediaFire.com i.e. I now have an Email Address and Password. And when I type them in, it asks again for a Username and Password ? Do you know where I am going wrong ? Eddie
pschlute
Download the ADE package by selecting "save" not "open". Then right click the .zip file and select "extract all" It is still freeware. There is no need to buy any unzipping program to use it.

Roger Wensley
That response "yes you can add crosswind runways....", can you allocate parallel runways for take off and landing? 30L is for take off and 30R is for landing?
longbreak754
@ Eddie..... As pschlute has clarified what you need to do I will only say that the Mediafire subscription details you have is only for the Mediafire account. As you don't need the account to get ADE up and running it may be worth you looking at cancelling the subscription unless you need you use the app for sharing your own stuff. You shouldn't need a Mediafire acct to access stuff that people share on it unless they are using a tied down account to restrict access solely to individuals of their choosing. Enjoy ADE - read the manual to get the best out of it as it is a very powerful tool. @ Roger..... To be honest my main use of the program is to remove/fix problems I find in FS2004 scenery that I use in FSX so I'm not really sure as I haven't tried it. However, I assume you can based on the options available in the Runway settings. You can declare which end is set for takeoffs and landings, the options being Yes, No, True, False. You can also set the landing pattern (Left or Right) and height. Regards Brian
eddywinch82
Hi Brian (longbreak754), Many thanks for your latest reply to my Thread. Yes I had assumed that, as I was being asked to enter an Username and Password to Download, the ADE 1.70 Program Zip File from MediaFire.com. That I needed to have have a subscription to MediaFire.com, in order to be able to do that. But as Peter (pschlute) has pointed out, the method by which I was trying to download the Zip File was wrong. I may now cancel my subscription, as I seldom share my personal Files with other people. I am looking forwards to using ADE 1.70 soon. Regards Eddie
pschlute
can you allocate parallel runways for take off and landing? 30L is for take off and 30R is for landing? Yes you can do that by "closing" a runway for takeoff or landing or both. This will always work if you close both ends. For example if you close 30L for Landing and you close 30R for takeoff, you will get consistent results if you also close 12R for Landing /12L for takeoff. Just closing one end may give unexpected results, best thing is to try it and test it thoroughly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, and I have no idea why. old_wombat
Just closing one end may give unexpected results, best thing is to try it and test it thoroughly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, and I have no idea why. An aircraft carrier has of course all the "runways" very strictly in one direction. I have done this through ADE on my carrier. I have never had any unusual results with this. Perhaps this is because a carrier always faces into the wind, so there is never a possibility of the runways actually being used in the two directions? pschlute
I said it "may" cause problems. I have experienced some problems at some complex airports with four pairs of runways or more. You just need to experiment
