runway 14 left
I just completed my first custom texture for the Opensky ERJ 135. For the most part, I'm pleased with how it came out (I know I'll improve with practice and look forward to looking back on it as a horrid first attempt) but I'm questioning the clarity of the graphics - see below. http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p488/runway14left/2016-11-1_7-8-10-807_zpsnoqbnpv8.png http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p488/runway14left/2016-11-1_7-8-52-855_zpsz4emnlyh.png The smaller detail - including the logo and lettering don't seem to have the level of clarity as in the professional textures. Is there a setting or something I'm missing in photoshop that would make these smaller items less fuzzy?
PAULCRAIG
Good first attempt, that looks like a CRJ200 to me? anyway, did you save the textures with mipmaps? if so, that will cause the blurries. Also saving the textures in 32bit bmp format may help.
runway 14 left
Good first attempt, that looks like a CRJ200 to me? you are right! not sure why I was thinking ERJ 135.... sigh. Thank you for the input. Let me try to digest your advice and I will post if I have more questions. I'll need to research the mipmaps thing, not familiar with that, and I'll look to see how to change the textures to 32bit.
PAULCRAIG
You should get DXTbmp by Martin Wright from here http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm it's a bitmap manipulator, it can add an alpha channel, save texture files in different formats & save without mipmaps & more, it's every painters friend. runway 14 left
Here is another plane painted for my airline. Does this look clearer? http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p488/runway14left/2016-11-6_19-53-55-962_zpsql2vwqmn.png Any comments or suggestions on how to make my paint schemes better? I'd like to jet into painting small regional jets for others as well.
PAULCRAIG
What paint tool are you using? where you have painted curved & angled lines it is best to blur or feather the edges, there should be a tool for this in your paint program, when doing logo's it's best to find logo's that need to be reduced in size to fit rather than have to be scaled up, also try & find PNG files for these as most of them have no background & can be resized & pasted straight onto your texture sheet without the need of having to remove the background, wikipedia is good place to find PNG logo's for airlines, just do a wiki search for the desired airline.
