Hi,

all of a sudden fsx seems to freez on me, ie when in full screen mode when I go to the menu bar, all of a sudden it freezes, I can still hear the aircraft engines, but everything stops in its place. Task manager says fsx has stoped responding.

Please advise, Thanks

OK - first this is a duplicate of the other thread your started entitled FSX freezes after installing SP1 and SP2.................

However, both issues are related and I suspect that the cause of the problem is due to a well know issue that occurs when you click loads of times on the screen, be it to change switch settings or to access the menus.

The solution is simple - place a specific FSX friendly version of the uiautomationcore.dll file into the root directory of FSX (i.e. C:\FSX).

There are two versions of the file and they can be downloaded from:

uiautomationcore.dll version 6.0.6001.18000

http://dllworld.org/uiautomationcore-dll/

NOTE: it is the 32 bit version file that you need - the second item in the list

uiautomationcore.dll version 6.0.5840.16386

http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-.../download.html

I reiterate the fact that the file must be placed in the root directory of FSX (i.e. the same location as the FSX.exe file) and no where else. There will be other versions of the file already on your system - leave then alone as they will be used by other programs.

Regards

As stated by ariking777 (and as as per my previous instructions) you need to copy and paste a copy into the folder.

Note, however, if the file was downloaded in a .zip format then it must first be extracted to a temp location before being moved into the FSX root directory. Apologies in advance if teaching you to suck eggs here but if you try to use the file as a .zip it will not work. Likewise if you try renaming the .zip file as a .dll it will not work.

Regards

I had a problem with FSX repeatedly freezing up. At that time I had numerous sceneries activated in the FSX scenery library. I figured that since I wasn't flying over these activated sceneries, they wouldn't put a load on my computer. It turned out that this idea was wrong.

Out of desperation, I tried deactivating in the FSX scenery library all of the sceneries that I wasn't using during a particular flight. For example, I would activate only the airport where I was taking off and the airport where I was landing. All the other airports were deactivated. My problem with freezes was completely solved. Absolutely no stutters or freezes any more.

Like I said, I pasted the file into the root file of FSX,

However , FSX is still freezing on me,in full screen without bringing up any menus.

dllfile.png

This was not happening a couple of days ago, it only started when I installed SP1, the SP2, then downloaded the FSXtracker software.

Thats when I started to get the problem,

also I get a message that I never got before when loading FSX, ''the colour scheme has been changed to windows 7 basic'' the message then fades away after 5 sec. Never got that message until I downloaded sp1 and sp1, and fsx tracker, so it could be any one of those 3 downloads.

In the instructions for sp1 and 2 it clearly says to installl them only on a clean install of fsx.

they are not needed if you have fsx acceleration or fsx steam.

and if you want to fix the error, look up the faulting module causing it in the Windows event log.

As far as I know I dont have fsx acceleration and definitely not fsx steam. Had to do a full system restore just to get FSX to work again,

by the way, here was the event log

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe

The default installation path is known to cause problems with add-ins due to its strict security access in Win7/8/10. Better to start over, install FSX in a directory outside C:\Program Files, NOT turn off UAC - unless you really do want your computer to have lowered security, and carry on. Otherwise, more, new problems will appear.

by the way what is UAC? And what other installation path should I install fsx in

Thanks

Mm,

you should start looking things up on google. Uac explained thousands of times there. Also use the search box on this forum. Installing is explained many times. (can find through google too.). Stop guessing everything.
