REDDAIR
Hello, Months ago I moved FSX from Vista to a new PC with Windows 10. It turned out to be less of a hassle than I expected. There are some quirks. The one I am asking about now is the screenshot. It does not work and the game will show a pop up box stating "Unable to capture your snapshot." The game created an FSX pictures file in a Folder titled FSX Simulator Files but it remains empty to date. Anyway I can correct this? Thanks. mrzippy
Has your V key been assigned to something else? It could also be a screen resolution problem. Try changing the resolution in your Control Panel/Display settings. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
llivaudais
The default screenshots are .bmp (very large) files. Unless you really need such high detail images, you're better off using a screen capture utility (many free ones) that allows you the option of saving type/location and bind it to the "print screen" key. This is what I did the first time I made an in-game screen capture and found that Microsoft's own photo editor program couldn't recognize the bmp format used by FSX. Such a confidence builder. REDDAIR
Thanks guys for the comments. I did use the "Print/Sys" key on my keyboard and it does the job, but will only hold 1 picture for copying to the Paint program. This I have used for eons in copying other pictures from the internet. The V Button must be functioning as I get the pop up screen with the note then. As far as screen resolution, not sure what I have other than what is shown in FSX settings, I assume it has been the same by default. I am not a computer geek, not sure if that is good or not. After downloading and running Malwarebytes, I am amazed at how much garbage (Malware; Adware and Trojans) can get through a firewall and Windows Defender! I hope it is not coming from Freeware such as FSX downloads!! Very concerned. Redd
mrzippy
Go to Control Panel/Display and check your resolution settings. You may need to lower it a tad and then make sure your FSX settings match to get the V key to do it's job. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! napamule2
Redd, You said: '.."Print/Sys" key..'. I think you meant 'Print Scr'. My keyboard requires I hold down 'FN' (ie: Function) and then press 'Print Scr' key. That will copy the screen to the clipboard. I use that all the time. I then PASTE into IrFanview. I then resize, crop, and do 'color correction' and then 'Save As' jpg. Since it's usually a 'thumbnail.jpg' I save it to the relevant texture folder. But I use this method to take pic of 'The Alamo' (live web cam) and other web pages, youtube video (paused), etc. I never use the 'V' key. I pause FSX and then press and hold 'FN' then press 'Print Scr' then paste into IrFanview to get a pic. The jpg file size is small compared to bmp plus jpg is what you can 'attach' to a forum post (bmp won't work). IrFanview is fantastic (beats Paint) and is FREE. Get it. You'll thank me later. jandjfrench
Hi Redd, The message "Unable to capture your snapshot." leads me to believe you're not using the built-in FSX screenshot capture function (V by default). As you say that V produces the pop up it seems that some other program has intercepted the keystroke. As others have posted, there are alternatives for capturing a screenshot but it's usually best to find out why something is not working as designed before seeking alternatives. If you're using the Steam version of FSX that might have some bearing on this. Jim F.
REDDAIR
Go to Control Panel/Display and check your resolution settings. You may need to lower it a tad and then make sure your FSX settings match to get the V key to do it's job. Thanks Mr Zippy. The resolution in the game did not match the PC. So with that corrected, all is well for snapshot!!!! Redd

kingnorris
You could also download Fsscreen, in the library here. Allows multiple shots to be taken, using the prt/scrn button.
