FSX Default B737 VC lightning

I have read different posts but haven't got anything to work for me, so I'll give it a try here instead.

Looking to change the VC lightning in the B737 default aircraft, and wonder how I start?

I've seen the panel where the lights are purple-ish (1) and also a russian VC which has red colors, and that is in the direction I want it. However, how do one change the colors from purple/red to something else - and not messing up that the overall (dome?) light stays off/black?

(1) = http://simviation.com/1/browse-Panels-60-7

The VCs whose lights are purple, are meant to be understood with the link above.

Hopefully you understood what I meant.

What is the file you installed and want to change. Filename of .zip file.

What do you want to change about it.

To change the color of the dashboard they probably edited the textures of the VC.

To make it less bright they probably installed a different light effect file too.

To get exactly what you want you will have to edit all VC textures,

and probably their alpha-channels as well.

Or find some VC fix that has exactly what you want done by someone else. (I don't think that's likely, but who knows.)

Ah, I see, this addon comes with a folder containing those 5 changed files, and also a folder containing the default files (!!)

Still a good idea to keep those stored somewhere. Best put that folder of 'backups' in the 737 folder, so you know where it is at.

Many thanks for the help - I'll pop back if I can't figure it out.

And seeing I am a rookie when it comes to editing these kind of files, what program should I be using? And if someone has done this before - how do I start off?

The more information you give me, the less I have to bother you with silly questions.. :p

Thanks in advance.

Good luck! Be SURE to back up any files that you plan to modify.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️
