ad #1 is lacking too much information to make a judgement. what cpu speed? that is the essential piece of information.

ad #2 does specify a 3.1 GHz processor. This, IMO, is just too slow for FSX.

Hooked since FS4... now flying:

self-built i7-4790 at 4 GHz; GA-Z97X mobo; GTX 970; 16GB gskill;

quiet, fast and cool running.

Win 7/64: 840 EVO OS; 840 EVO (500G) game drive;

Win10/64: 850 EVO (500G) for OS and games

Maybe you mixed up 1 and 2 in your reply?

it's ad 1 that specifies the cpu at 3.1 ghz. (scroll down the page)

ad 2 says only core2 quad. no speed mentioned. Even after opening the details page.

I typed

core2quad q9550 vs i52400

into google.(the q9500 above average version of core 2 quad)

I found the i5 outperforms the quad on all points.

page:

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core2-Quad-Q9550-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2400

For fsx the cpu (-speed) is most important. Based on that choice 1 is better.

It looks like a well balanced pc. Maybe add a larger harddisk if it's possible to install one.

The case looks like it can fit an extra harddisk. Not sure if the mainboard has the required connectors.

I agree that 3.1 is stil a bit low. But at medium settings fsx should run on it ok. (As long as you don't add complex payware addon aircraft and certain scenery.) It's an ok low budget choice.

Thanks for your reply

Yes, I was thinking the same thing he got the listings mixed up. Anyway

This listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-Dual-Core-3-9Ghz-8GB-1TB-Desktop-Gaming-PC-Computer-AMD/201385505309?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3Dde395d5b29ae42d38410ce71cef95056%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D131788315859

Is the same price as the 3.1 ghz listing,(less an OS :( yet looks to offer more in performance. And the amount the seller has sold of these tells me its a good looking deal. Anyone know anything about AMD HD8370D Graphics in regards to FSX

Found a YT vid of FSX on AMD HD8370D Graphics , almost the same specs as the listing above

AMD 3.9 is far less powerfull then Intel 3.9 ghz.

Even the i52400k was far more powerful.

You can easily find that info, use google. type:

amd a4 3.9ghz vs i52400

and hit search.

You would find as first hit:

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-2400-vs-AMD-A4-6300

look at the benchmark results. A which one scores better.

Your short list should include at least an i5 that is not locked and an Nvidia card at least as complex as a 660Ti.

You really need to do your research to avoid buying a lemon. FSX stresses BOTH CPU and GPU, if possible you should factor for an SSD and avoid low-end onboard sound chips.

If you plan on addons such REX then you need to be well above minimum spec - i7 and GTX 970m SSD, reasonable sound card and resaonbly strong power supply - 750w or more.

FTX Global should have no impact on frames, but we all know it won't stop there. Search `Freemesh`

  • 4 weeks later...

well I bought the i5 pc

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VALUE-GAMI...3D371699506143

very happy with the graphics (FSX)

And the frame rates are very good. No choppyness or anything, all the sliders moved up, and max settings on my video card.

100% better then fs2004

Mind you I have not added any ad-ons or anything like that yet.
