kevinkevin1991
I've been using this aircraft a lot recently. The autothrottle works fine for most part of the flight. When on approach the throttle surges up and down when I've brought the speed under 180/200 knots. Why is this?

Are you saying that the levers are moving back and forth? Is your aircraft in the proper configuration for that speed? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! kevinkevin1991
Throttle?? Thrust levers maybe? Are you saying that the levers are moving back and forth? Is your aircraft in the proper configuration for that speed? The levers are moving back and forth yes. The aircraft is set up for landing i.e flaps, speed. At this time AP & AT is still engaged. This problem doesn't occur during other parts of flight.
Skywatcher12
Don't use the 787 but could be a configuration thing. If not, TDS do have a 787 support page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TDS.SkySpirit.B787/ Mark Daniels
mrzippy
Which download for the TDS 787 are you using? As a test, I downloaded and installed a TDS 787-9 and kept everything in the FS2004 format. I did a short test flight and landed at KSAN. I kept the engine control popup activated during all phases of the flight and noticed no unnecessary movement of the thrust levers. Either you were in an extreme wind change condition during your descent or you have a download that a re-painter or uploader messed with. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! il88pp
Thrust levers? Does that mean it has a VC? Which VC? Did you install that VC yourself? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

That's suppose to be a secret that he wasn't going to tell us until about 20-30 posts later!;) Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! kevinkevin1991
So basically.. I flew from EGLL-KSJC (not that this matters) with TDS 787-9 British Airways and through the whole flight the autothrottle was working correctly. Autothrottle performed perfectly through the climb, cruise at FL360/380/400 & then the descent was perfect also. Upon approach the autothrottle was extremely unstable. So below 200knots the autothrottle doesn't seem to know what to do. By this time flaps would be selected accordingly. The autothrottle will surge up and down causing havoc. I have to turn autothrottle off and manually maintain speed which is annoying. I wonder why I'm experiencing this and nobody else? I had no wind as weather at all. Kinda tough if you won't post the filename of the TDS 787-9 British Airways. I chose the TDS 787-9 Chinese airline that had a 777-300er panel, no VC. Like I said, having the thrust lever assy. displayed the whole flight, no unnecessary movement was detected. If the one I'm showing below is the one you are using.....I find the one comment rather telling!

FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Jetliners FS2004/FSX British Airways Boeing 787-9 [ Download | View ] Name: ba789landor.zip Size: 17,464,472 Date: 03-24-2016 Downloads: 696 FS2004/FSX British Airways Boeing 787-9, registration G-ZBKI. copperpen
Jet engine surge and slowdown at slow speeds is common while using autopilot, and has been queried here several times before, with no clear answer to solve it. Zippy, this is 2004, not FSX, and FSX may well be doing something differently for you not to see it.
