asos
One of the major virtues of fs9 at fs9 his that all scenery textures blend seamlessly and it does not have that "stuck-on" look that fsx has. Flying from Roger Wensley's wonderful CYIK scenery to 64 miles out with the C172 and major storm weather and it is a dream.... I downloaded all of Roger's sceneries today. That man is amazing. JSkorna
You should see ORBX scenery or photoscenery in FSX. You'll never want to go back to the blurry 512 X 512 ground textures in FS2004 again. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
asos
JSkorna, I know--I have all of ORBX installed--but that is payware. My intention was to compare the 2 sims as default set-ups, without payware addons. FS9 has the upper hand as default. Nick

Should see a sim that never oom's' or Ctd's. You'll never go 'back' go FSX again. Many of my 256 textures look better then my 1024 FSX textures. Each their own. :) https://fshub.io/airline/RUA/overview https://fshub.io/airline/KAP/overview

Nick But in your first post you aren't even comparing default FS2004 to default FSX. And please don't tell me that your default FS2004 looks better than default FSX using the same settings! http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
zswobbie1
Have a look at http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/ There is a lot of planes, scenery & textures, including ramps, ski slopes & even sloping runways. All free & a lot of Fun, Facts & Fiction, which is what simming, especially FS2004 is all about. Also, have a look at http://biggles11.wixsite.com/the-natural-world for the best autogen scenery! Both are free!! I very much agree..Should see a sim that never oom's' or Ctd's. You'll never go 'back' go FSX again! With FS2004, as you know, you will spend more time having fun & flying, than tweaking & restarting. Robin Cape Town, South Africa

asos
A few more points: FSX color of water looks too light and too silvery for my taste. I can make my own AI traffic files fs9 more easily. There is more choice of addon a/c in fs9, more engine sounds and sceneries available and more AI aircraft. I will never forget the impressions I had when I first played fsx: it looked artificial, flat, and had unnatural colors--the browns of grounds had a Sahara color... It took me 2 months then to get used to the new looks. And I still have no managed to like the "missions" fsx has. Let me add here that I have painted watercolors and oils all my life and I see colors differently because of that. Nick
Roger Wensley
He's right about Roger Wensley though.
asos
He's right about Roger Wensley though. You can say that again, for sure. What is more, Roger is prolific in producing and he is a real pilot too and has flown over or landed in many of the airfields he has made.
