asos
It all started by watching some videos on youtube, namely these: The daredevil pilots of Colombia - the vintage Douglas DC-3 plane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-F-cBF5ZbQ DOUGLAS DC-3 ARARACUARA (COLOMBIA) In the 2nd video the plane flies low over a riverbed and skims the water. These videos gave me the idea to download a Colombian DC-3 repaint for the default aircraft, which I did. Then I had the idea to download many panels and many repaints, so over 3 hours I downloaded all the fs9 panels and about 60 repaints. The idea now was to make a few different a/c folders based on the def a/c with different panels in each--and different liveries. I also need to download suitable Colombian sceneries. That will take some time and work. I also downloaded some gauges that came up in my panel search in this site here. When I have made some, I will post some screenshots--wish me luck and tell me I am crazy... Nick Athens, Greece.

ViperPilot2
asos, Just a heads up... if you haven't gotten too deep in your Aircraft procurement, might I suggest an alternative to the Default DC-3? Manfred Jahn's v.2 is an excellent alternative, and there are many Repaints available, including many of those highlighted in The Daredevil Pilots of Colombia. Another excellent Resource would be DC-3 Airways; you can find all kinds of little Trinkets to enhance your Gooney Bird, and perhaps you might consider joining up; all they fly is the Three! They also put on a yearly Event called the DC-3 World Rally, where Pilots from all over the World participate in a series of Flights, testing your Pilotage & Navigation skills flying the Three. No MP, no special Software, nada. Good Hunting! asos
Thanks Viperpilot, I will take up your suggestion and get that Jahn DC-3. I also have the MAAM-SIM DC-3. BUT I must first recover from over 3 hours of downloading the files I got. That will take a couple of whiskies with ice, a good night's sleep--it is 4 am here--and, as the great American poet Kenneth Rexroth wrote "fast horses and a a few good women"...:):):) Nick:):)
ColR1948
I've done things like this, I see a youtube clip then look for that aircraft, I get it all working, fly it around a bit then get fed up with it, also the same with areas/countries, fly around those for a while then all of a sudden I leave and hardly ever fly that plane again. So just a tip, do a few at a time and see how it goes rather than go overboard and install lots of stuff only to not use most of it.
ViperPilot2
In keeping with the 'spirit' of asos 1st Post, I offer this... This segment (Part 3 of 3) highlights the area asos is interested in; what's really cool is that the filmmakers included some Classic Latin salsa music, which really helps with the immersion factor. This was the Video that introduced me to Colombian DC-3 Ops... And... check this PIC out! (Time index 00:44) Nothing like jumping into a d. Rex, firing up the -1830's, and putting on some Tito Puente to pass the hours away...
