ATC acting very extrange!

Hi guys,

I have a very unusual situation here, I been a flighsimmer for the last 25 years, but I never had this probleem, in a flight over Greece the ATC service want me to climb to 50.000 feet! how weird is that! my flightplan was cruising altitude of 250, after reaching 250 I get the message to climb to 350, I did, because, maybe, who knows, but after reaching 350 ATC want me to climb to 450, and then I ask ATC for a lower flight level, the answer was "petition denied".

Maybe some of you had ever the same probleen, I like to hear from you over this very rare situation!!

Happy landings!

They probably think your a spy plane so that's why :p

I've never had this problem before however I had one similar where I would request a cruise level change and ATC would never respond back and then they would cancel my flight plan simply because the ATC menu had glitched and didn't show any options to respond or anything.

Just wondering do you have any custom ATC add-ons that may be causing this or are you using the default traffic control?

The flight plan you made is it from a custom flight planner or the default fsx planner?

Ok, what you could do is that you just stay at your altitude stated on your flight plan and the controller will keep nagging you to climb up to 500 which is impossible unless you have a high performance jet such as a Concorde or SR-71

My point is; that issue I had with the ATC menu glitching up I solved by just flying then when I would enter new airspace they would cancel my flight plan since I couldn't respond to them. So what you do when you have to change controllers is reload the flight plan in (if your using the default planner) contact the controllers to get your Inflight IFR clearance and then that should fix it. If it did for me I hope it does for you

My only experience with this type of thing with ATC is flying from anywhere into Leeds/Bradford, UK. Even with short flights of 200 miles or so, they insist that I climb to

25,000 feet (Sorry, gringo American, commas and periods usage) even when I set a cruise altitude lower, like 15,000 feet.

Flying in Greece...from where to where? I'll see if I can duplicate you situation.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Sounds like you accidentally put 500 in when making the flight plan with for example the default planner. If with default planner indeed, then you have probably saved the plan when asked. So load it again and see what it says there.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your feedback, Some of your questions: the fly was from LGIR to LGKR, I use the default planner, something that was a bit extrange, was that when I made the flyplan the FSX flight planner put a fly level of 800! when I saw this, I changed to 250, it was no problem at all, even when I was in the cockpit busy with the FMC, the fly plan was at 250! I don't have any custom ATC addons.

Thanks for your help!!

OK, maybe I'll give it a try. So the flight planner gives the cruise altitude of 8,000 feet and you entered 25,000.

OK, I just did the entries for the flight LGIR-LGKR IFR, high altitude flight and this is what came up. I made no changes. I will fly it tomorrow morning!

Hi Zippy,

the flight planner gave me the altitude of level 800( 80.000 feet!) and then I change it to 250(25.000 feet).

Safe landings!

OK, thanks! In that case, no matter what you change it to, ATC will order you to 80,000 feet. For some reason that's the altitude that's considered safe by them. Very strange.

Horacios,

I just made that flight IFR with a planned and requested cruise level of 25,000 starting at 22:00 local, and it went fine. ATC stepped me up to cruise after takeoff and down to a visual landing just as I expected it to. No issues at all.

However I did enjoy looking into some of the history of both Ikaria and Corfu. I really enjoyed reading about and seeing pictures of Achellian palace on Corfu. And of course the Kaiser's bridge which was destroyed by other Germans during WWII.

I can't help with your strange ATC issue. Sorry.

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
