Adamsik
Hello, About a week ago I reinstalled Windows 7. Then I install FSX and everything ran perfectly fine. But after a week FSX little lags, but the worst part is that the game loads about 30 minutes !! I'll choose Fligh Now and wait 30 minutes or more until the game starts. I have no add-ons. Any advice? Please help. I need fly but I don't want to wait 30 minutes! Thanks for any ideas...
JSkorna
Make sure you have de fraged your drive. Also check your anti virus for scans. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png

evm
Make sure that your drive is healthy and has enough disk space left. Is it a HDD or an SSD? If it is the latter, don't defrag, SSDs don't like that. If an SSD gets very slow, this is probably an issue with unsuccessful trim.
il88pp
Sounds like you forgot to install Accel. (or SP1 & 2 if you don't have accel). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JSkorna
Sounds like you forgot to install Accel. (or SP1 & 2 if you don't have accel). How do any of those affect FSX loading times? In all my years I have never heard of such a thing. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png

JSkorna
Close your anti virus and see what happens. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
Adamsik
Also I have to mention that my CPU is running about 50% and I don't do anything. I don't know what is it but I'm thinking about that and I'll reinstall Windows. Maybe.
TheFamilyMan
Also I have to mention that my CPU is running about 50% and I don't do anything. This is the problem. It could be that Windows Update is stuck/broken, which I've seen to cause this problem. Disabling Windows Update may fix your problem though it's not a good thing to do in the long run. If this solves the 50% use problem, you'll eventually need to fix windows update. BTW, when you reinstalled win7, did it ever install all the updates (which should have taken a long time)? Rod O. il88pp
Run a good av scan. For freeware I'd recommend Panda cloud cleaner and avg rescue disk. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I was disable Windows Update and my CPU is running 0% when I don't do anything. My FSX is loading only thirty seconds and I haven't lags. Thanks man. budreiser
Turning off Anti Virus worked like a charm for me. I have McAfee (free with Cox) on the puter with FSX (on a SSD). It allows you to turn Anti Virus off for x amount of minutes which I did, and FSX loaded up real fast. When I finished flying, I checked and Anti virus had turned itself back on. My wife's laptop now has this problem, which runs Win7 Home, and the same fix won't work for her computer. My thought is that I heavily combated against installing the win10 related updates on these computers and MS has done something which breaks Windows Update if you didn't install these updates. In your case, a fresh install may have stalled Windows Update such that manual intervention is required. If SP1 has not been installed, you definitely need to do this and it probably must be done manually; my hunch is that's what caused your problem with Windows Update...but on the other hand if you have SP1 installed I have no ideas on the problem. TheFamilyMan
Sorry about dredging up this thread, but MS has released an optional update which solves the OP's problem with Windows Update. If one is so affected, this link can be used to manually installs the update, but make sure Windows Update is enabled before installing it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3172605 Rod O.
