hobbitrocks Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I am having a problem with my Flight Sim. Within minutes of taking off my computer freezes. This just started today. I actually have had the computer off for 3 or 4 weeks, but last time I flew everything was fine. Any idea's, and I am sure there are a billion. Willing to try anything or should I just uninstall everything and start over...god that hurts even saying it. hobbitrocks
mrzippy Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Operating system? Maybe some Windows updates causing the problem? No new downloads and installs, like scenery that you didn't try before the 3 or 4 week layoff? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
pvarn Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 When power supplies or hard drives are failing, it's common for those to show up after the computer has been off for a long time. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
hobbitrocks Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 I appreciate the thoughts. I have switched my cfg file from one I had saved from 2013. Nothing has changes since that time over all. I also stepped back on the video card drivers to older version, and also switched to older softward for Go-Flights. I also reset my scenerery back to default, and then reloaded all of the Ultimate Terraine files after a test flight with default scenery. Right now my plane is in the air, I am actually moving - so no freezing up....so not for sure which of those thinks worked, but I seem to be okay. My rig is as follows - DX38 intel motherboard, 2 GTS8800 video cards, 8 gig corsair ram, 2- 320 gig hard drives, 1 500 gig hard drive, 17 go flight modules, 3 GHZ quad core, Vista 64 bit, CH yoke and pedals, and a kitchen sink.....I am now making new pot holes at airports accross the nation.
pvarn Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 There are so many possibilities for your kind of problem. It could take a while to figure out. Since you are using add-on scenery, this is a possibility. Scenery problems most often show up when you fly in certain areas, so seem to go away when you fly somewhere else, even a few miles different. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
