Great screenshots of one of my favorite volcanoes. I was just there a couple of weeks ago doing the train trip around it. Here's a quick shot. Notice what's coming out of the top....not clouds, but steam because of an eruption the day before. Sorry, no aircraft in the shot, just Zippy hanging out the window taking pictures.

I think I have developed a strange habit lately. I am watching AI flights all the way from departure to landing on my TV, as kind of a relaxing backdrop, for example while reading. This one I gave a flightplan from LOWI to LICC and had it tracked all the way across photoreal Italy. The weather was interesting, multiple thunderstorms below the plane. I noticed by accident that it was descending just at the right time to get the sun shining through clouds behind the volcano.

These were just day trips we took from both Catania and Palermo. Major travel was by air (Alitalia).
