il88pp
For a long time I've been tempted by the PMDG 737NGX. Not the right payment options for me to buy it directly from PMDG though. I've now spotted it on Disk, from Aerosoft. There payment options are no issue. I sort of want to buy it. I saw the 747-v1 go out of sale, and I want to buy the NGX before that possibly disappears as well. I saw threads saying that updates via PMDG themselves are available sooner then via Aerosoft. (that was the SP1d update last year. Should I really get it via PMDG only if/when I do decide to get it? Or is buying it from Aerosoft just as fine? Do Aerosoft offer support with end user questions, help flying it, Error massages, etc? Or is that only available directly from PMDG? And if only directly from PMDG, are those PMDG forums/support mail, also open to people that bought it via Aerosoft? Thanks much. il. evm
If you want to support the developer, buy directly from them (=no additional cut for the reseller). Other then that, I have the NGX box too, and I didn't have problems with updates. It takes a while until updates are released via Aerosoft though. I bought all their other products as downloads. Customer support with Aerosoft is no better or worse than other resellers. Meaning that they will mostly direct your product support questions towards PMDG and will only deal with issues related to their sales process themselves. I seriously doubt that either Aerosoft or PMDG will "help flying it". I suggest you browse through both support forums (PMDG's is on the "other forum") for a while, to get a feeling about how they react to customer requests. One thing to note is that you can't sell a box second hand when the product has been activated. The PMDG license is single-user, non-transferable. il88pp
So you downloaded your ngx updates from aerosoft. Where/how did you find them? I tried via google, but all i find is threads on the aerosoft forum, dated 2015, saying the update will be out soon. I don't see download links. Do you need cm aerosoft account to find your updates? il88pp
Found them! Thank you. So updates from Aerosoft, user questions at PMDG Forum, and technical support from either Aerosoft or precisionmanuals. I was getting a bit lost. I'll need to look into it further, but now I'm on the right track. I know reading the manual is essential. Have seen questions get answered with "read the manual". So I was prepared for that. It's a complex plane, so I would need some free time if I want to do this. Also because I think it will be something you want to play with every day once you get it.:) Thank you both for the info. What I saw of the plane seemed great. That was years ago. To not get tempted too much I've tried to look away for a long time. I'm realising now I know very little about it.:) If anyone would like to add more info you are most welcome to. il. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bdf369
The introduction document and tutorials 1 and 2 are just about all you need to read at the start. They are well written and nicely illustrated. Tutorial 2 is a thriller with a circle to land approach at Innsbruck. Of course to really get into how deeply they simulated the aircraft you need to dig into the other 2000 or 3000 pages of manuals, turn on service based failures and keep the QRH handy. :pilot:
evm
You should take a look at FS2Crew for the NGX as well. Airliners were not meant to be flown by a single person, and that product makes the experience a lot more realistic. Take a look at the older frooglesim videos on youtube, those where he first discovered the NGX (and did both tutorial flights). Those got me hooked on both products.
