Hello......No. I have this:

[DISPLAY.Device.AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series.0]

Mode=1920x1080x32

AntiAlias=1

TriLinear=1

[DISPLAY]

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=25

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=60

Can I add Change Time= ?

Thanks.

Look through your Config for anything pertaining to Infotext and see if there is anything in that section about Change Time=

FS2004 lacks a lot of the things that are in FSX.

Are your answers/replies generated or based on FSX? I don't understand ........

I have never heard of being able to alter the time taken to display red messages in FS2004. I have, over the years, downloaded a significant number of "tricks and tips" for FS2004 but none of them contain anything pertinent to your question.

The Change Time = message in FSX probably changes the time of day and not display duration of messages.

So I guess you may just have to put up with this - but, hey, it's only there for a couple of seconds or so ;)

You can remove any red text or change text to read what you want but it requires 10 minutes of effort.

1. Download Resource Hacker from here: http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

2. Copy and make a backup of your language.dll in the root folder of FS2004.

3. Start Resource Hacker and open your language.dll file. Either search for what you want, or in your case, expand the "String Table" tab and then expand tab "2341 and click "1033". In the right pane, change all the red messages you don't want to this " " (one space).

For example, to remove just the "TOWER" text message, change that line to look like this (Remember one space):

STRINGTABLE

LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US

{

37440, "View "

37441, "COCKPIT"

37442, "VIRTUAL COCKPIT"

37443, " "

37444, "SPOT"

37445, "TRACK"

37446, "TOP-DOWN"

}

4. Then click "Action - Update all Resources..." When "Changes have been made to this script... Do you wish to Compile it?" click yes.

5. Then click "File - Save" and place your modified language.dll in your FS2004 root folder.

In this example, just the "TOWER" red message will be gone.

You can eliminate all the red screen messages completely by changing the "HideInfoText=" from 0 to 1 under the "[MAIN]" category in your Config file.

[MAIN]

Maximized=0

Location=595,189,1243,722

HideMenuNormal=0

HideMenuFullscreen=1

HideInfoText=1 //Controls Red screen messages 0=On, 1=Off

Yes, since I don't have FS2004, I have to base on FSX and see if FS2004 is close enough in the .cfg files to be comparable. Not THAT difficult to understand......Oh, sorry, forgot who I was dealing with!

Thanks, Napamule2, but I have Resource Hacker and have used it to modify some of my info text. The OP doesn't want to eliminate the text, just shorten it's onscreen time. I gave it my best shot.

The Change Time= in the FSX.cfg DOES change the time the infotext messages are displayed. I have lowered mine to a level that is acceptable to me.

Thanks for all the info, folks.

I didn't have 'HideInfoText=1 //Controls Red screen messages 0=On, 1=Off', NMLW, so I added it to my CFG & Bingo, no messages! Brilliant.

I want to hide them as I show the local WW2 airfields I've made at local events, via a projector onto large screen, & it looks so much better with no messages.

Thanks for you help.

TerryW.
