No README instructions from the FeeMeshX folks? Actually I just read through the install instructions. At what point do you get your errors? Are you ever able to get it to show in your Library?

I'm doing a Mediafire download of Antarctica since it's only 1GB. And will test it.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Hi Apollo,

Appreciate that you are frustrated with this but opening another thread is not the best thing to do when you still have an active thread on the go where you have already sought anwers to the same problem (thread at https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?298733-Scenery-advice&p=1977820#post1977820).

As I suggested in my post at post #19 of the referenced thread - get the Scenery Config Editor tool (found at https://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/) - As I stated it can be used to activate scenery from outside of FSX and will show any errors straight away even before its loaded into FSX. It can also give pointers/hihglight as to what the problem is, be it due to invalid pathname to the scenery (which seems to be your problem) or due a total loss of the scenery files.

In the case of the invalid pathname error try to re activate the scenery in FSX, or if you download the tool it will show the error and allow you to correct the pathname.

I would also suggest keeping the naming conventions simple and adapt it to your own requirements. For example try something like the following structure........

C:\Addon Scenery >>>>

C:\Addon Scenery\FreshMeshX >>>>

C:\Addon Scenery\FreshMeshX\Asia >>>>

C:\Addon Scenery\FreshMeshX\Asia\Scenery

C:\Addon Scenery\FreshMeshX\Europe\Scenery

Regards

Well, I thought I made an error with the file I tried downloading through MediaFire. I tried another download and I do not get a .zip to be opened by my 7Zip. This is what I get from those downloads:

Whatever this is, it's useless! This file was FreeMeshX-Asia.7Z.004

I have tried using the the tool that you spoke of its getting a bit confusing I think what I'm going to do is just try and get one scenary file to install correctly and the do the rest,i have also tried the way you sugest c:\Addon Senery etc just not having it . Nm I will have to work on it lol

I have found a large area of missing base scenery i bet it was when I put that Total pack on someone mentioned 2009 scenery well the first line of my scenery config reads

Title=FS9 World Scenery

Description=FS9 Scenery Data

Clean_on_Exit=TRUE

does that sound right I'm going to reinstall everything again ,I will get rid of everything fsx surely that will give me a new Scenery config when I verify the files in steam its just downloading all the errors OH well here goes it will be a long night lol

Kind regards

Apollo

It's a split archive Zippy, you have to have all 4 parts downloaded to a folder somewhere and then you open the first one (FreeMeshX- Asia.7z.001) with 7 zip, it assembles the four parts so you can extract them somewhere.

Don't delete it just yet! :)

OK, thanks Jim! I thought I was going nutz for a moment! Now the Antarctica file was only one file and it was the same! Good thing I'm not really interested in this mess...er mesh.

I remembered downloading them as torrents and then I followed the instructions. No biggie. Everything worked as advertised. Also, I waited long time to install it cause I knew it was a work in progress for awhile.

Cheers,

It looks like you almost got it. In your other thread you mention fsx reports missing Area's.

That is because you:

-placed the files on your system,

-activated them in the library,

-then moved the files.

FSX is now telling you: "I Can't find files in area that is listed in the scenery library...."

----------------------------

I'm not the best at heping with that.

I know how to Prevent it, which is:

"delete from the Scenery Library in FSX first,,, only then delete or move the files after..."

But not so much how to Fix it.

however, I think user 'Longbreak' and the program SceneryConfigEditor program will be able to help.

-------------

Sorry I can't help more. At least now you know what the cause is.

---------

There is no need to uninstall fsx. Actually, uninstalling FSX may not delete the Addon Scenery's you added.

THere is also no need to download Free Mesh X again.

All you need to fix (with some help) is the file: Scenery.cfg

Take some time off, (and a painkiller), and recover from the dental surgery. This whole thing will look very different with a clear head.

-----------------

I should add, the errors you are now seeing on startup, about th missing Area's, are just messages.

FSX will still run perfectly fine.

It's just annoying that you have to click OK 100 times before you get to FSX. But the program will still run just fine.:)

It's all detailed here. http://ninetwopro.com/freemeshx/fmx-installation/

"All four volumes are part of only one package. To extract, all you have to do (with 7-Zip) is extract the .001 file. By doing so, all the volumes extract seamlessly automatically. You CANNOT extract the other .002, .003, .004 volumes. You have to use 7-ZIP, which is free and open source, which can be found here."

It's sort of like the FlightSimStore installers. They are split in multiple files, but they have a program that then unlocks and then extracts each part. FreeMeshX only just requires you have each part in a single folder, and then extract the first part.
