Deafult cockpit zoom settings are 'cockpit 0.31 zoom' & '0.50 zoom'. Is there a way of changing the 0.31 to 0.40 zoom ? I mean a permanent change. I can change by using the - + buttons but I'd like a permanent change.

Yes, there is: in your aircraft Panel folder, open the panel.cfg file with Notepad and search for [Views]. At the end of that section, just add VIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM= 0.40

The other directions are FORWARD_RIGHT, RIGHT, REAR_RIGHT, REAR, REAR_LEFT, LEFT, FORWARD_LEFT.

After you edit the panel.cfg as tiger advises are you saving it or just saving the default flight?

I've done this a few times and it always works, this is what made me ask. Edit the panel.cfg then SAVE AS then next time that setting should still apply.

Hi,

The panel.cfg edit only changes the zoom for the 2D panel, not the VC. To do that, you set the zoom as you like it, then save this as the default flight. Keep in mind that any flight you load that uses a different zoom will change this.

When I set the panel.cfg file to zoom = 0.40, I end up with a zoom of 0.39 in FS9. Changing the cfg file to 0.41 gives me a zoom in FS of 0.40. So try a number a little higher than 0.40 in the cfg file.

Hello. I use the FS2004 Taylorcraft Auster MkV by Bjorn Buchner,

in a South African Air Force livery. It has full animations, virtual cockpit and custom panel.

It's low & slow & a sheer delight. I use it to show school children over the local WW2 airfield I made - RAF Ibsley - so they can see a vanished world we owe so much to.
