Problem: the model shows white--inpainted

I have been making repaints of the John Young AI D Dragon Rapide, for an AI Traffic file I am making.

They all show fine at the target airport of my AI Traffic file, LGKL Kalamata in Greece.

However I could not see the undersides of the repaints in that traffic at LGKL, so, trying to outwit the sim, I made a Flyable Ai version of the AI aircraft with Autopilot in a SD panel and placed the repainted texture folders in there, so I could pan around and see the undersides of each repaint.

Now the surprise: I only have one repaint showing. From [fltsim.0]] and [fltsim.1] only one shows ok, the 2nd one shows white--unpainted model only.

Here are the entries:

[fltsim.0]

title=DH_Rapide_AI VF-142 Ghostriders COD 213879

sim=Rapide3

model=silver

panel=

sound=

texture=VF142

atc_id=FAA

ui_manufacturer="de Havilland AI"

ui_type="DH Rapide"

ui_variation="VF-142 Ghostriders COD 213879"

ui_typerole="Twin Engine Prop"

ui_createdby="JY"

atc_airline=NAVY

atc_flight_number=879

atc_parking_types=Ramp GA

atc_parking_codes=RAP

description="De Havilland Rapide. AI only"

[fltsim.1]

title=DH_Rapide_AI LUFTWAFFE red 12

sim=Rapide3

model=silver

panel=

sound=

texture=german

atc_id=

ui_manufacturer="de Havilland AI"

ui_type="DH Rapide"

ui_variation="LUFTWAFFE red 12"

ui_typerole="Twin Engine Prop"

ui_createdby="JY"

atc_airline=AIR FORCE

atc_flight_number=12

atc_parking_types=Ramp GA

atc_parking_codes=RAP

description="De Havilland Rapide. AI only"

Why is this happening. Above only the [fltsim.1] a/c shows painted--the .[fltsim.0]] a/c shows white. It follows that if I add more [fltsim.xxx] entries, only one shows again.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Any help will be appreciated.

texture.cfg file in each texture folder like it should?

also, are they all the same as the one in the texture that works?

you can open them with notepad.

No texture.cfg in FS9.

Use caution "making flyable copies" as FS does not like multiple planes having identical title= lines.

You are better off just editing the AI .air file so the plane is selectable in the Create a Flight GUI.

For working with AI I recommend that you get the AI Aircraft Editor- http://www.owlsnest.eu/phpatm/index.php?PHPSESSID=dnjaicllg259h017potv9d89g4&direction=0&order=nom&directory=Tools

There is nothing in your aircraft.cfg to indicate a problem, unless you have another aircraft.cfg that has the same title= lines in it.

Assuming you have that straightened out, are the textures the correct file name and in an FS-usable texture format?

Thanks, did not know that.

Some other ideas:

If there was an error (duplicate) in the title= the plane would not show up.

If the texture name is incorrect the aircraft is not in the selection list.

If the texture file for the under-wing was missing the under-wing would be black.

It's white.

Is it possible the texture is actually white, that only for one texture did the creator take the time to also paint the under-wing.

Copy the texture folder to the desktop, then you can safely open the texture files there to have a look.

Well, one of them will.

If the texture name is incorrect the aircraft is not in the selection list.

Not true in FS9.

If the texture file for the under-wing was missing the under-wing would be black.

Again, not necessarily true in FS9

Believe it or not, FS9 and FSX have many, many differences.

Copy the texture folder to the desktop, then you can safely open the texture files there to have a look.

Should be able to open them anywhere.

Not trying to be too picky here, just want the OP to not waste time chasing wild geese. :pilot:

Nick:

1. Are your Luftwaffe textures in a folder called "texture.German"?

2. Do they have the same names as the textures in your "texture.VF142" folder?

3. Are the files in one folder the same size as the ones in the other?

4. How many different versions do you have as AI?

5. The ones that show up white, are they flyable, AI, or both?

6. The plane in your screenshot looks like the Luftwaffe one, rather than the Ghostrider one. So which one is showing up white?

Above only the [fltsim.1] a/c shows painted--the .[fltsim.0]] a/c shows white.

As he stated, it is the first one showing only white. If he has a folder called texture.VF142 and there are valid texture files inside that, then I assume the author painted it white. After all, it is called the Ghostriders. :)
