Welcome aboard UAL DC-10

Recommended Posts

Today I decided on pulling this good old UAL DC-10 1974 paint scheme out of the hanger, dust her off and fly her from LAX-SFO. She still great for her age, I hope you agree. I think this is still the best paint scheme for UAL. Enjoy Kenny

Beautiful shot! Gotta love the old 3 holers. Used to load them in Minneapolis for NWA.

Yes, Kenny, she IS still a lovely lady, despite her age.

I grew up watching my father climb into DC-8-62 and -63's in that paint job for his flights to Hawaii, New York, all over from KSFO.

When he transitioned to 737's, still in that paint, I made him a model of it. Took me some time to get the decal going up the tail juuust right. As far as I know, it's still hanging from the ceiling of our Family Room. Eventually, I made him a DC-8, too. He loved those Stretch 8's, as he called them. The 737's were his second favorite, though. He called them Minipigs :D

Anyway, Thanks for a great picture!

Pat☺

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Sooooo many to thank but thanks to all. I also have the paint scheme for Larry's too. My dad was a test pilot on all DC-8 series, DC-9's & of course DC-10's still my favorite. Upon completion of testing he had to fly & deliver for example to Chicago to train upcoming DC-10 AA, UAL pilots on how to fly this beautiful A/C. He has since passed away in 1980, but sometimes this is my way of showing how much he is missed by me and all who flew this beautiful plane as passengers & pilots & still do. I flew once from ORD back to LAX on the first passenger maiden flight of AA DC-10, I was a teenager then very fond memories. I know I have that picture of the passenger on that DC-10 plus I got to see them transporting AA DC-10 across the main Highway in Long Beach after it got painted. When I find it I will scan in show you all Kenny :)

That might depend on how we define "age" - that model is pretty dated (as in - it was the very first addon with XML wingflex)!
My name is Erick Westbrook-Cantu. I used to make flightsim addons. I may or may not endorse this message. I do, however, fully endorse Marshall amplifiers, Gibson guitars, and Tama drums.

Very interesting Erik, I like this model for FS9. I always appreciate the modelers out there that give to this interest all freeware. The time spent on doing the detail amazes me. Thanks to all who do this. Kenny :):):):):)
