Most are beauties but the 727 was my love.

Do you have a B727 model in FSX? Who makes it?

There are two freeware B727's available for FSX, one by Thomas Ruth which is an updated model for FSX of the Vistaliners 727 by Erick Cantu & comes with a VC & theres the Tenkuu Developers Studio (TDS) 727 which is newer but does not have a VC, it is possible to use the panel & interior model (VC) from the Thomas Ruth package with the TDS 727, both are avalable 727-100, 727-200 & 727-200F.

Thomas Ruth has also done DC10 & L1011 models for FSX, both with VC's.

All are available for download here in the library.

- PMDG MD-11X - still one of my all-time favourites

- CaptainSim 727 - has recently been updated, I like her

- CaptainSim Tristar - pretty good when fitted with an additional soundpack

- CLS DC-10 HD - not really top of my list, but OK-ish

Haven't had any problems with them in DX 10 whatsoever.

Then there is the Project Tupolev TU-154 (freeware) if you like things a little exotic. But I haven't tried her yet.

I like that option. The TDS B727 with the Ruth B727 VC. I'm using the TDS 787 with the FSX default VC so I could figure out how to do it. EDIT after merge: Attitude gauges not working :(

Sounds like you guys really like the PMDG MD-11 @ $70.00 verses the CLS DC10 @ $40.00.

I have the all the Project Tupolev models in FS9. Didn't know if it works with DX10. Some models you can tell if the liveries are in .DDS instead of .BMP which only is supported in FSX but others like the TDS use .BMP's so they work in both sims.

The only experience I have with Captain Sim is the their Space Shuttle. They claimed it works in FSX but it is NOT supported with DX10 enabled (Textures are all white).

I was hoping they would update it but never did. Not buying anymore Captain Sim products.

I wanted to go with the option TDS aircraft with Ruth VC cockpit. Merged them OK however the Ruth Attitude gauges don't work in the TDS aircraft (Everything else seemed OK). The Ruth B727 looks nice enough and I like the idea that it uses .DDS textures so I just kept the whole Ruth model.

I'll (almost) second Rupert and Jorgen, in that the Ford TriMotor is high on the list, but for me the Junkers 52 trumps that. If we have to talk jets, the 727 is sweet (real life, I'd not mess with it in the sim), and I've had a fond place in my heart for it since I first rode one.

Boeing 377

Lockheed Constellation.

Both had more than enough in-flight failures of at least one of four to be recognised as a 3-engined airliner.

Nothing like being between Alaska and Midway Island on three engines, happened enough times, you just stopped thinking about it.

I have them both, and IMHO they don't really compare. The PMDG is spot on perfect in every detail, the CLS is... nice to look at. The FDE seems a bit too nimble to me, the systems depth is not too deep, the sound set was not convincing (I replaced it because I thought that I could hear voices over some of the recorded sounds), the instrument panel is not the one that I remember from RW (I have a video of that too, so I don't have to trust my fading memory :o) ). But that last one is a personal preference of course, not a flaw in the product. There are different configurations with every aircraft for the different operators or in different "generations".

I have to agree with Rupert and Jorgen, the Ford Trimotor is by far the best of the three motor aircraft ever built... that was real flying! If it has to be a jet, I've got a problem... don't like tube liners. So, having gotten that off my chest, if it is a three engine jet I have to fly, then I'll take a Dessault Falcon 7x!

Thanks for everybody's input. Before I was convinced I had to get Payware aircraft to work with FSX. Went with the suggestions of Ruth 727 and DC-10, both fully updated for DX10 and the VC's aren't bad at all. His L-1011 uses the 747 cockpit so I skipped on it but I guess you could use the DC-10 for it. I hate having every plane sounding like a 737-800 so I got the Turbine Sound Studios sound sets for $13.00 each.

Will probably get the PMDG MD-11 eventually since it seems to be a favorite.

My personal favourite will always be the Seventwoasaurus.

Also, I don't think that Tom's model has anything to do with mine. It's constructed very differently. The wings are where this is most apparent.

My name is Erick Westbrook-Cantu. I used to make flightsim addons. I may or may not endorse this message. I do, however, fully endorse Marshall amplifiers, Gibson guitars, and Tama drums.

Wow,

The legend Erick Cantu posted in my thread. I'm honored. Been using your creations for years in FS9.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a "Seventwoasaurus" Googled it and all I got was a monster truck.

I'd bet the Seventwoasaurus is the big hint! Survey sez...............727.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️
