wyodeacon
I have tried to load both the Majestic and PAD dash 8 and have a problem. When I change to either of these aircraft (not installed at the same time) my FSX will run for a while then suddenly crash. It ONLY happens with the Dash 8. I have tried all kinds of other aircraft and it works fine. Here's the readout from my event viewer. I hope someone can interpret it and tell me what's going wrong. mrzippy
ntdll.dll crash is a tough bugger to isolate. It could mean your AI sliders are to far to the right creating too much traffic or something similar. Start cutting back. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! wyodeacon
I'll give that a try. I will let you know... Dell XPS 8700 -win 10 - 16 gb DDR3 ram - NVIDIA GeForce 750 ti - Saitek X52 - FSX Deluxe w/acceleration
wyodeacon
cut traffic back to 50%. I'm, waiting to see if it crashes. BTW, it will crash if I just select the aircraft but don't "fly now". Then it seems that there is a problem with the Dash 8. Can't speak for the Majestic but which download are you using for the PAD? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! PhantomTweak
You might check the panel.cfg, and see if there is a line something like gauge19=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2, \Sound\Sound.ini I seem to recall problems with that causing crashes. Make sure you have that dsd_FSX_xml_sound.gau in your gauges folder. Sometimes panels call out the gauge, but if it's not there, it's the wrong version, like you only have v3 installed, not the old one, whatever, it can cause this crash. Not SAYING this is the problem, but I have had it happen before, to me. Just a thought. wyodeacon
Well, I left it for an hour with the traffic set at 0% and it's still sitting there with the dash 8 slowly turning. So, apparently, it has something to do with that setting. But why just the dash 8? I also checked in the pnl.cfg and didn't find anything like what you said PhantomTweak. Right now the PAD is loaded and I think it has a Lear panel installed. I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks to both of you. Downloading now (slow boat from China). Will test in the next hour or so. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
mrzippy
Test flew the aircraft....A-OK! Did you install the ground handling sound folders to a newly created folder and install to your Main FSX folder and then add the appropriate lines to your panel.cfg? I think that Pat is on to something concerning sound gauges may be looking for appropriate sound .wav files. The sounds are part of the "Taxi Gauge". The aircraft minus the ground handling sound garbage flew and worked fine. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
PhantomTweak
That problem has hit me more than once. The sound thing. It was a LOT more prevalent in FS9 than FSX, but I've seen it in FSX too. I eliminate the pushback gauge if it's causing problems, as I just never use it. Nothing wrong with Mr. B's pushback, don't get me wrong. He does amazing work with gauges, no question. But if I wind up with the Sound problem, I just comment the lines out and move on. Is it because I don't put the right files in the right places? Probably, as I NEVER use autoinstallers, but I'll live with it. wyodeacon
Sorry for not answering sooner. I did change the sound files. I don't have the GH installed yet but will pretty soon. Everything seems to be working correctly at the moment. Just flew from BIL to SEA with no problems. Thanks mrzippy and phantomtweek for your help. I'm giving up on the majestic dash 8 for now as I'm tired of fighting the problems. I'll just fly the PAD.
