Hi David & Mr Zippy, thank you both for replies.

Seem to be going round in circles again, now getting 1407 errors for some reason?

Any further help please.

Don't seem to find any info on 1407 or 1507 errors like you mentioned. Maybe a 1607??

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Hi Paul,

1407 errors are usually a result of registry errors due to bad or invalid registry keys. Most of the time this is due interrupted installs leaving behind such keys. As you initially experienced an install failure due to the missing MSXML files it is likely that keys referring to the failed FSX install exist.

Try using a registry cleaning program, such as CCleaner, to clean your registry. Another option would be to manually delete any entries relating to FSX - if you do this option I suggest that you first back up the current registry before hand and do the cleanse search twice using the following search phrases and in the following order:

FSX

Flight Simulator

A word of caution here - when using the Flight Simulator option you may get references relating to non FS related entires, especially if your rig is a fairly modern laptop, as the word 'flight' may be used in keys referring to the 'Airplane Mode' that can be implemented when using the laptop on an aircraft. Most are very evident as to being aligned with this mode but one or two may be confusing so double check before deleting or, if in doubt, leave them and move onto the next entry.

Regards

Brian
