FPS Drops

Hello! I don't really know if this is the right place to post this... but, okay.

anyone got any ideas why my sim is is suddenly fps dropping?

it's only happening on pacsim RPLL. I'm having around 25-30 FPS on other addon airports.

before I was having 15-25 FPS on RPLL but now around 13-18 FPS ( it sometimes drop to 7-8 for about 2 or 3 seconds and then repeats. )

I reset to default my settings on NI before these all happened, after noticing the fps drops, i applied the same settings on NI again. but after applying the same settings, i'm still experiencing sluttering...

-same settings before and after resetting NI settings.

-same sim settings.

What happened between "before" and "now"?

FPS drops that only happen in a specific location are mostly related to objects or textures in the scenery itself. So there is something that must have changed, like more objects being displayed, higher texture resolution, higher LOD. Even removing objects or textures that are supposed to be there concerning to the BGL will result in FPS drops, because the sim has to process an error in this instance - actually lots of them if it is a texture, a special effect or even just a sound that is handled every single frame. Have a look at the content error log, it helps with these things.

nothing really happened between "before" and "now" I just simply reset the NI settings and then test it out. after that, i'm experiencing sluttering

can you really tweak the objects to be displayed on addon sceneries?

I forgot LOD I'll try it later.

I'll try to replace the airport bgl files with the original one.

Will check the error log.

Thanks.

EDIT 1

[error.0]

error=Found Duplicate Key Name

File:C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Effects\fsfx_t7_center_landinglight_mid.fx

Section:ParticleAttributes.10

Key:uv1

I'm pretty sure that error isn't related to the Scenery addon.

also, a bunch of AI Traffic error logs. that's all. AI traffic @ 10 and GA @ 5

Looks like the only chance is to tweak the displayed scenery...

can you really tweak the objects to be displayed on addon sceneries?

If they are autogen, then yes, through the sliders and LOD. Custom objects only when you alter the BGLs. Usually developers only use custom objects for the buildings on the airport, the surrounding countryside is often autogen (albeit "hand-placed").

And removing objects that are supposed to be there is simple - just delete the wrong library bgl. This can easily happen if the devs decided to put it in your standard scenery folders (or effects, or sound) inside the simulator directory and you revert to an earlier copy of your sim or switch to another version without reinstalling the scenery.

Other things that hurt FPS are the visual goodies like "Dynamic reflections" and "Ground object shadows". Depending on what the developers did with their objects, changing such a setting can have a major impact.

unticked ground shadows and etc... still the same.

I forgot to mention, fps only drops if : I'm moving / flying ( low graphic settings & high. )

I recently tried dragging the sliders on terrain to 0 and autogen to sparse, still experiencing fps drops.

after trying that, I returned the grahpic settings to my default setings and I flew around with frequency fps drops

-Seems like I'm experiencing this fps drop because it's loading the objects from afar?

i've been trying to fix this since morning..GMT+8

hope someone can help me with this..:/

You are experiencing this only on this particular airport, right? Two things remain - disable this scenery in the library and check what default scenery does - and turn off traffic completely as a test (aircraft, boats and cars.)

On another note - this addon has not been released for P3D, has there been an update? Maybe you are just stuck with an incompatible bit of scenery here. You can only try to remove features, like the 3D grass etc. until your FPS go back up. In the old days, using an incompatible FS9 scenery in FSX sometimes did the same thing, I even had one (also payware) that pulled down FPS to a complete standstill of the simulator.

Another consideration. Issue with Nvidia 364 drivers. Drop it and go back to 361. There are issues with the 364 drivers.

already tried turning off traffic. 0%

the scenery is compatible for v2.

I've flown several times with a "high" fps... then, suddenly this. I'm just gonna disable the scenery for now...

Thanks for your help Evm!

my current driver is 362. I'll still try though.

EDIT 1 : tried to rollback drivers to 361, still the same. i'll just disable this scenery.

Thanks Guys.
