watchur6
Its a cool program and seems to work well into the FS9 flight envelope but I have encountered one problem that I cannot figure out and contacting the development team is a waste of time as they all speak French! I can get everything working (I htink) except the panel icon that brings it on screen and turns it off. It is readily apparent on the default 737-400 but when you try to load it onto another B frame you have to go to views/instrument menu and then you find the FMC at the bottom, click and it appears. But where the heck is the main panel icon??? I have compered panel.cfg files and can't figure this out. HELP!!! Much appreciated.
PhantomTweak
The FMC probably comes with it's own Icon for the panel. You will have to place it yourself. If you need help doing that, I can DL the FMC, presuming it's freeware, and take a look at, then tell you what to stick where :D Does this help any? mrzippy
I see this is a payware product. Are you installing this new FMC to replace an existing one in another B frame (I assume another aircraft)? If the new aircraft didn't have an FMC before, then you need to check for an ICON from your new download or it may be possible to "Borrow" the ICON from the default 737-400 to place on your 2D panel. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
watchur6
Yes, it is a payware product that I am trying to install on another supported Boeing. The program when installed automatically installs the FMC in the default 737-400. They say all you have to do is copy the mods made to the panel.cfg in another Boeing and it will work. I did that and it works but there is no icon to turn it on and off. The icon appears in 737-400 and works. The mod to the cfg file that I THINK is the icon is // Switch FMC Window gauge99= jsg-fmcgen9!glx03-fmcswitch,0,0,25,25 or there is another line like this // Truck Display gauage98=jsg-fmcgen!glx04-truck,449,190. I copied the cfg exactly into the 747-400 cfg and I do get a working FMC but have to access from the "View" drop down menu on the instrument panel. I can remove it by right clicking and the usual MSFS box appears and I can close it. But no icon appears anywhere. On the 737, it is small icon that appears on the left side of the screen above the instrument panel and works in the usual manner. Any thoughts? watchur6
You are correct, it does come with its own icon only when I review the changes to panel.cfg, I can't figure out where it is. I copied the cfg mods exactly and the FMC works but no icon. And its payware so you can't download it. The actual cfg changes are // Switch FMC Window gauge99= jsg-fmcgen9!glx03-fmcswitch,0,0,25,25 or there is another line like this // Truck Display gauage98=jsg-fmcgen!glx04-truck,449,190. OK, then gauge99=jsg-fmcgen9!glx03-fmcswitch, 0,0,25,25 is the ICON. Apparently the position 0,0, size 25,25 isn't being shown in the 2D display of the new aircraft. Maybe it can be placed along side of any other ICONS on the panel. Does it look like there is room for another ICON next to other ICONS on the panel? watchur6
Thanks! I am sure I can find space but how do you calculate the location? I really appreciate this help!
mrzippy
Thanks! I am sure I can find space but how do you calculate the location? I really appreciate this help! Take a good look around the area you want to put it. If it's near another gauge, you may need to go higher/lower and left or right. (note the position of the gauge) That will give you a starting point. Example: 123, 456, 25,25 123 is left to right. Basically 123 position spaces from the extreme left of the panel. The higher the number the farther right you go. 456 is up and down positioning. 456 position spaces from the very top of the screen. The higher the number the lower you go. 25,25 is the size of the gauge/ICON/Beer tap/thingy you are installing. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! PhantomTweak
gauge99=jsg-fmcgen9!glx03-fmcswitch, 0,0,25,25 The first set of numbers, in this case 0,0 following the fmcswitch is the location. In this case, they indicate that it is to be placed in the farthest upper left corner of the cockpit picture. The first number indicates the horizontal displacement of the gauge, with 0 being the farthest left, and however many pixels are available being the farthest right. Let us say the they are using a 1024X768 .BMP file for the cockpit. This can be found by looking for the .BMP file used, usually in the Panel folder, and hovering the mouse over it, which should tell you the size (in pixels). The file name may be found up at the top of the [Window00] section. It will look something like this: [Window00] file=SpartanMain.bmp size_mm=950 window_size_ratio=0.930 position=7 visible=1 ident=0 window_size= 1.000, 1.000 window_pos= 0.000, 0.000 Notice the line I colored red for easy visibility. Then the biggest the first number could be is 1024. In other words, the bigger the number, the farther rightward the displacement. The second number indicates the vertical displacement, with 0 being the topmost, and, in the example I gave, 768 being the biggest possible, or the very bottom of the picture. When I place things, I like to open the .BMP in a picture editor, size it to 100%, then when I place the cursor on the picture, it gives me the location, in pixels, that it is on the .BMP. Then I can change the numbers on the gauge= line I showed to match. The number indicate where the Upper Left corner of whatever you place, in this case a square ICON, will be located. Easiest is to look at another position of an ICON, then how many pixels wide it is (the THIRD number in the sequence) and do a little math to see where the next one should go. So let us say, just for example, there is another ICON that reads gauge06=SimIcons!Avionics Icon, 570,310,14,14 In this example, the ICON is placed at the location 570,310, or 570 rightward, and 310 downward, and it is 14 X 14 pixels in size. So if I want to place another ICON next to it, I will use the same vertical number, or 310, and look at the horizontal number, 570, and add 14, so 564. I loke to give Icons 2 pixels separation, so they don't crowd or overlap. So I would go 566 for the first number, 310 for the second. That will place my new ICON immediately to the right of the previous one on the panel picture, in this case the Avionics Icon. Long and wordy, I am sorry, but does that give you the information you need?
