edwarosmith
Hi all, Anyone know of any software for recording flights in fsx. I want to record flights so I can edit in MS movie maker or other software. Thanks.
mrzippy
FRAPS and FSRecorder are two of the ones used the most. I'm sure you will get more suggestions. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
edwarosmith
Thanks again Mr Zippy, I have had FSRecorder installed for quite some time, the problem with that software is it will only play back in FSX. Mr Zippy, may I be so bold to ask you,“Do you spend 24/7 at your computer I ask this as I was a moderator on a controversial site here in the UK responsible for scrutinising posts coming in before putting them on air. I am used to falling to sleep with my head resting on the keyboard; yep, thousands of lines of gobble-de-gook. I have to say I’m very impressed with your 11,397 posts
evm
If you have a fairly current NVidia GPU, you could use Shadowplay. It is integrated in the Geforce Experience software.
MrUnSavory
Give this a try. It is free and works well. You can use it to record or to stream. https://obsproject.com/
Mark Hurst
I have had FSRecorder installed for quite some time, the problem with that software is it will only play back in FSX. That is its main function but version 2.181 (available since 2012 and billed as an 'alpha test' version) has a video rendering feature. You can render a recorded flight as a raster image video (WMV). Because it renders in non real-time you can put your FSX settings as high as you like and still get a very smooth video with whatever frame rate you choose. It is a great tool for making FSX videos. keefpee
I use Bandicam, the freeware bit which limits one to 10 mins for each recording, but at say 9:55 I just press 'P' then restart Bandicam for another 10 mins. I then edit using Moviemaker. I chose this software after looking at the other 'free' ones out there & it came out as easily the best quality. Example are with my DH 90 Dragonfly & 'Bunty' models on youtube. Good luck Keith
ScatterbrainKid
..Anyone know of any software for recording flights in fsx. I am used to falling to sleep with my head resting on the keyboard. I've used free FRAPS for years and can vouch for it, you can do 30-secs vids and individual screenshots. Try it and if you love it to bits you can buy the full unlimited version. http://fraps.com/ PS- what "controversial site" were you a mod at? I've modded at 3 sites and just let people say what they like (short of death threats) and things run smoothly enough. i might apply to be a mod at other places too as I seem ideally qualified- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/geek-mod_zpsmdzsjmx3.jpg~original
usb777
I have Fraps, Bandicam (Paid Version well worth it) And FSRecorder. Here's what I found and works great.I used to play music and record sound engineer so that helped. Record your flight with FSRecorder and you can over dub the flights using the replay as AI setting I have done an airshow in Reno up to seven times me flying all the aircraft then on your last replay and you know you can change your views while it plays record it all using Bandicam. Bandicam plays back on all kinds of programs for windows, I use VLC media most of the time myself and it's free. Now here's the clincher, Bandicam set to upload to YouTube and your on your way. Now I didn't learn this recording stuff by myself, I had lot's of help from folks here in this Forum. Hope this helps. I have Fraps and it to is a nice utillity I just seemed to pick up Bandicam easier. Mike G. napamule2
The easy way to do recording (Avi) footage is to start FSX, minimize it, start Fraps (starts minimized), do your flight(s), then run FSR's 'Instant Replay'. Then use Fraps (choose a key to 'Start/Stop' recording: I use 'Insert') to record video (avi). Two minutes of Fraps will be aprox 3 Gb. So make sure you have plenty of disk space. Then you use Windows MovieMaker, or Sony Vegas, to edit, add titles, add musice, etc and then save as WMV or FLV to reduce the size of your finished video. A 5 min video will be anywhere from 30 mb to 80 mb, depending on content. Save it 4:3 and 640x480 and YouTube won't complaint, yet it will show full screen after YT converts it to FLV. garycox
Just upgraded my graphics card with a Radeon R9 380 and with it you get access to 'PlaysTV' which automatically records everything you do gaming-wise. Excellent product. If you don't want to, you can switch it off.
