Hi to all, it has been awhile since uploading new flight plans thru TTools. Could someone please help me out step by step on how to do this. I downloaded my zip from website now I need to do TTools to compile. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kenny

Hi,

1. Paste the three text files into your TTools folder.

2. Start TTools.

3. You should see your text files listed in the left pane. If not, choose File/Default Source Folder. The directory displayed under the left pane should be your TTools folder.

4. If you still don't see your files in the left pane, choose File/User Defined Source Folder and browse to your TTools folder.

5. The default on the right side is Scenery/World/Scenery. If you want the compiled BGL file to go into this folder, that's fine. If it is not the directory displayed under the right pane, choose File/FS2004/Traffic Folder.

6. If you want your compiled BGL file to go somewhere else, choose File/User Defined Traffic Folder and browse to that location.

7. Select the flightplans file in the left pane by clicking on it.

8. Click the Compile button in the middle pointing to the right.

Your compiled BGL file should have been created.

Hope this helps,

Tom Gibson

Tom I am still having questions regarding installing packages. I use to use the WOAI installer to put A/C & flight plans into FS9 do I still need to use that correct?. I opened the installer, went into selected "WOAI package to install" area, maybe I am in wrong place or do not need the installer. If need it I cannot add the zip file as it comes up with "Unhandled exception has occurred". Here is a screen shot of installer. Thanks Kenny

Hi,

I don't use WOAI, so I have no idea what could be wrong. A quick web search turned up:

http://www.world-of-ai.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=q498l582e25vjel4bg57d07pm4&topic=9879.0

You could always check the box "extract files for manual installation" and get them that way, or just open the zip file in windows. grab the three text files (aircraft, airport and flightplan) and install them the way I listed in my first post.

Wing_7, I knew it wasn't WOAI file, I thought I still might be able to use their installer as putting the flight plan in by locating the file and do the usual installation. It keep giving me that "unhandled exception" error box. Thanks Kenny

Tom, I tried the extract manual way, it still comes up with the "Unhandled exception" error box. I thought I would put the three files Airport, Aircraft & flight plan in a separate folder as that how the manual extract works, it still gave me that dreadful error message box. cannot not believe I am having this issue. All I want to do is install AAL newest flight plan so I can have the new AAL planes. I am trying AIFP3118 program that will allow new flight plans or edit ones all in one program. Thanks Kenny

If in the .zip are three files

aircraft.txt

flightplans.txt

airports.txt

Then this is a flightplan.

You will need to unzip it in Windows,

Put the three files in one folder,

You will then need to compile the three files into a traffic file (that is a .bgl file) using the program TTools.

If those three files are all that is in the .zip, then the flightplan has no aircraft models included.

You can:

Edit the aircraft.txt file and attach this flightplan to aircraft models that way,

Or,

ou can possibly find the needed aircraft on the AIG site.

Download TTools and read the included manual for more info.

-----------------

another program that can compile these files into a trafficplan would be

AIFP

(AI Flight Planner)

You can use that instead of TTools if you prefer.

The .bgl file that you create by compiling with TTools you just copy to:

..\Scenery\World\Scenery

No WOAI installer needed.

But you do need it to link with aircraft models/textures that are actually installed to make anything show up in the sim.

I do think BTW that AIG have their own installer. A program very similar to the WOAI installer. That is used to install complet packages that do contain the aircraft as well.

Thanks il88pp, I read your input several times it seems so simple. I am confused over part of the following lines:

"Put the three files in one folder", It came with the three that you mentioned at the beginning of your input. My question is you said put in one folder, which folder? Sorry this is becoming an issue with me, thanks for your patience thru this. Again I just wanted to add the new American Airlines. Kenny

I'll give the Steps I use when doing this. I do it one thing at a time, and I don't compile directly to the fsx (FS2004) folder. I create a seperate folder on the desktop, and do everything there. Then I move the created file manually into the (FS2004) folder.

I install TTools. Very simple. Just unzip the folder, and put it where you have your fs utilities.

(For me that ends up as-- C:\ownprogs\TTools)

I run TTools. It will locate your FS2004 folder on running the first time.

It 'wants' to compile the created bgl files directly in there.

But you can very easily choose your own compile folder.

Wich I do.

The folder you asked about is simply a new empty folder. I create this on the desktop.

Let's call it "AIG-Am_airl_wi_14_15"

On the deskto in folder "AIG-Am_airl_wi_14_15" I place: aircraft.txt

flightplans.txt

airports.txt

Then I start TTools.

In TTools Select "File" -- "User Defined Source Folder"

In the Window that opens, select the folder you made. ( "AIG-Am_airl_wi_14_15" )

(You will immediately see all files, aircraft.txt -- flightplans.txt -- airports.txt, in the list.)

(If you have two such filesets in the folder, you will see them both. This is fine. I will explain below. Just read on.)

Select "File" -- "User Defined Traffic Folder"

In the Window that opens, select the folder you made. ( "AIG-Am_airl_wi_14_15" )

Now select the fileset you want to compile, by clicking on one of its files in the list.

Not only the file you click, but all three associated files, turn blue.

(only the ones associated with that fileset)

Then

Click compile.

You will see in the second windo on the right a file appears. A .bgl file.

That is your traffic file.

The traffic file .bgl will be in your folder "AIG-Am_airl_wi_14_15" on the desktop. Like you selected in TTools.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In fsx the trafficfile you then install in folder: Scenery\World\Scenery\

I think that's the same in FS2004.

-----------------------------------------------------

This is how the compiling works.

Simple really.

With the AIG plans you first need to edit the .txt files to get them linked to aircraft. That's not something I can help with much I think.

Thanks to all who has helped me out thru all of this. I followed your advice il88pp and it worked many thanks. Once I saw step by step it wasn't has hard as it appeared as I used WOAI when I first added AI A/C's. I am going to copy your instructions and I can refer back to whenever needed. Again many thanks to all. Kenny

It's me again, my question is I compiled it and said it was completed, I started up FS9, it gave the dialog box as it was updating everything. I went into FS9 A/C picked C-182, took-off DFW as I know that airport is AAL hub, no new AA there, does it take sometime for them to appear or should they appear right away? Again thanks I hope I won't need any more help on this. Kenny

The aircraft.txt file contains the info about the aircraft that fly the plans. What you see there are the title= lines of the paints used by the plan.

You have to either make sure your sim has planes with those title= lines (installing additional paints and or making sure their title= lines are correct in each aircraft.cfg file) .

Or edit the aircraft.txt file to match up with title= lines of AA aircraft you already have (and compile again and install the .bgl file).

--

If the title= lines in the aircraft.txt file do not match with any of your aircraft now, you will see no planes.

Possible pai has info on their site about planes that were intended. (separate download?), but any plane with the right title= line would show.

(btw, all title= lines in your sim folders are, and must be, unique.)

Thanks il88pp, I will check that out, I thought all I had to do was use TTools and compile it because the individual folders to new airlines had Aircraft, Airport & Flight plans in there just compile and it will appear. Thanks Kenny

I just realised, making changes in the aircraft.cfg files is a bad idea. The are already being called by other bgl's you have.

Make the changes in the aircraft.txt file instead. Then recompile.
