How to add "velocity" to FSX smoke?

Quick question: How do I make smoke blow back from the tail of the plane instead of clouding up right at the tail while I'm not moving? I have FXEditor as an editing program. Code for the smoke here:

If the smoke 'bunches up' around the tail it is because the smoke starts too close to the exhaust (increase the lon value= further out) and because the wind will blow it into the ac if you stop with the wind at your tail. Turn off all wind and it should be better (but still not perfect). Don't know about 'velocity' for smoke - sorry.

IIRC correctly its tied in with the Drag & particle velocity values which are zero in the list below. If the smoke hits ground it can stop or slow it down so it just rises. Need to read the FS9 SDK, but be careful in FSX 'cos the X,Y & Z are different directions I think.

If you mean turning on the smoke with the 'I' key, it's bound to cloud up just like in real life if there's no wind, so either start moving or add some wind in the weather settings..:)

It's probably not smoke you are seeing but snow. Go to a Spring/Summer runway and see if that makes a difference.

 

It's not snow, I did it in the middle of a hot desert day.

I know, but have you noticed when the Blue Angels test their smoke on the ground it blows back from the tail because of the jet exhaust? I want that.

 

If the smoke 'bunches up' around the tail it is because the smoke starts too close to the exhaust (increase the lon value= further out) and because the wind will blow it into the ac if you stop with the wind at your tail. It bunches up because the particle effect has no velocity, not because of the absence of wind or its closeness to the plane.

I can't make it happen in FSX.

This first pic is with no wind, but even when I stand on the brakes and open the throttle the smoke still bunches, it must be the way FSX is programmed and there's nothing we can do about it, but I don't really care about no steenkin bunching anyway because I just take off-

Never mind you guys. I'd just seen it done with the FSXBA smoke effect on their jet where lying in the particle .fx file some lines of code made it blow back from the jet WITHOUT wind.. I'll mark the discussion as closed.
